The Woodlands

Beautiful location, set in the valley at Sandsend. Very peaceful. Very helpful, friendly hosts. Hotel itself is a beautiful small hotel. The room we stayed in was just perfect. Breakfast was gorgeous with plenty of choices.

Lovely stay, quirky room - spiral staircase to a big bathroom with a big bath. Also took our pet dog who stayed in the bathroom - made it so much easier - access from the ground floor. Nice little bar and breakfast was lovely. Great location. Ticked all the boxes

Great location. Comfortable bed. Excellent bathroom facilities. I loved the carefully selected pieces of artwork in my room. Great to have a link to Internet channels on the TV.

Lack of comfortable chair to sit on. There was an attractive wooden bench, but not practical for sitting on to relax. Did not like being asked to fill in a form indicating what I wanted to eat for breakfast the next morning (you have to tick every item from drinks, to cereals, and even which elements of a full English breakfast you want) and deliver this to the breakfast room by 8pm. I went out after booking in at 4pm and what I drank and ate that evening would be likely to influence what I wanted to have at breakfast. I didn't fill in the sheet and was still offered breakfast in the morning - so why have the system? I am the sort of person who would feel guilty if I ordered a lot of food, but then when morning came, didn't feel like eating it all.
