The Kings Arms Hotel

Cozy little hotel/pub, Food was freshly cooked and served hot unlike some establishments where it only comes out lukewarm at best. Rooms warm and comfortable

On my experience of this Hotel and if you value your hard earned cash 💸 find somewhere else.

We were warmly welcomed at the Kings Arms hotel and the welcome persisted throughout our two-night stay. Our room was cosy and clean. The one aspect of the stay that we felt could be improved, however, is the mattress quality. Perhaps mattress toppers would help prevent the springs in the mattress from poking people. Castle Douglas was not what we had hoped for, but the Kings Arms hotel made up for it. After visiting Dumfries, where we found even the major tourist attractions closed (Sunday and Monday) we spent much of our one full day in the Borders enjoying our room, reading and watching TV. We had one dinner and two cooked breakfasts at the hotel. The young waiter who served us twice was most impressive. He was polite, attentive and we noted that he did not wait to be told by his superiors to wipe tables or do odd jobs around the restaurant whilst not actively serving. He is an asset.

I loved the friendliness of all the staff - they were welcoming and helpful during our 3 night stay. It was great to sit down to a fully served breakfast each morning (portions generous too!) and at night the great bar suppers were appreciated by residents and locals alike. The small but busy bar still manages to have 9 beers on tap to suit all tastes. I also appreciated the use of the outdoor courtyard area for eating/drinking. Rooms clean and comfortable with all expected facilities. Would definitely stay again if touring in the area.

Was fine just what I needed should have booked direct would have been lot cheaper.
