Alta Sierra Village Inn

The price was incredibly reasonable for the Grass Valley area. The gentleman at reception was welcoming. The property was almost across the street from the Alta Sierra Golf Course which made it the ideal place to stay for us for the night for our early tee time the next day. The closest restaurant and bar are at the golf course. Room #4 was large and clean. The king bed was comfortable but the 3 standard size pillows were a little flat. For as old as the rooms are, you could tell they had did some refreshing of the rooms, such as laminate floors, ceiling fan, dual flush toilet. There is a coffeemaker, microwave and little fridge. A sliding door opens to a little porch for you to sit and enjoy the outside scenery though we didn't use it. The furniture was older and mismatched, but the TV was a LED flat screen with a decent amount of channels.

It definitely is "you get what you pay for". The night we stayed in May was chilly. There was only a sheet and bedspread on the bed. Reception provided a blanket when I went over to request one. That wasn't enough so we had to run the ac/heater unit all night. Throughout the night the unit would run several minutes then cycle off for one minute then cycle back on. Because of the high ceiling, we ran the ceiling fan on low so it would circulate the warmer air downwards. We barely got any sleep because of all the noise from the heater unit. The quality of the lighting created neither a relaxing nor inviting atmosphere- the ceiling fan light was a harsh white light, the bedside lamp was a dim warmer tone light, and the light over the vanity was yellowish which made the area feel old. The entry around the front door is unpainted wood which adds to the dark feel. (A warm white coat of paint on all walls and additional lighting with a uniform bright warmer tone would really help.) We were able to connect to their wifi in the parking lot but not inside. The motel did state you may/may not get wifi depending on the room location. Our room was directly across the parking lot, maybe 60 feet, from the reception office. If room #4 didn't get wifi inside the room, I doubt any could.

Old 70's vibe a little worn. But has thar retro charm. On a Golf course, clubhouse near by.

it's fine for what it is (cheap and close) but there were stains on the sheets and the walls are SO THIN i think every time i stay the neighbors keep me awake. there's nobody to call to ask them to be quiet.

The balcony/ deck was poor shape and room was ok needed some touch up . Has steps up to bathroom and exit area. Bed was comfortable ceiling fan was nice. Looking up ceiling was nice. Right next to Golf course. But no place to walk nice views of course. Not close to town. Very nice drive to place deer and woods along way.

This property could be great, but remains mediocre.The heater strugles to maintain. The room is dark with poor lighting. The TV is too low and at an angle.

It is a very nice place, very clean and spacious. Good location as well and my room had a bathtub.

Just because the ceilings are so high I think the room just doesn’t maintain heat very well and the beds seem old or cheap, other than that everything was good.
