Candlewood Suites - Cleveland South - Independence by IHG

Candlewood Suites was a very quiet hotel. The hotel didn't seem too busy at all and didn't seem to have alot of visitors. The bed was very comfortable and made for a relaxing and pleasant sleeping night. We have stayed in Independence before so the area is always nice and has plenty of restaurants to choose from and isn't too far from any major attractions.

Minor- upon arrival noticed that a pillow was dirty. Went to front desk and asked for a new one and it wasn't a issue. The hotel is in a weird spot so the views aren't amazing or anything great. We stayed on 2nd floor and our view was the building AC units. Lastly when I think of "suite" hotels I think of a large room that has a separate living room area from the bedroom area. I don't know why it is called a suite maybe cause of the kitchen area. The room isn't a suite at all but still a very nice room. The bathroom is large and nice walk in shower. Overall we would stay again if necessary but may not be the first overall choice.

Everything you could need for a long stay - a kitchenette in suite, gym, swimming pool, restaurant, bar - plus conveniently located to all Cleveland attractions.

The room was nice. The only issue I had was my toilet didn’t flush, and there was still like hair on the shower walls.

The 1-bedroom suites are the size of a condo. It was quiet, had free washer and dryer available, a stove top. The area has many good restaurants. Attached to the Holiday Inn. So, you get use of their nice workout room and pool. This is excellent for long stays.

Very strange experience overall. The entrance is in the back of the building with an alley. Walking in, there were several men sitting/standing outside the door who looking us up and down. Once inside, there was no one there to check us in. After a few minutes two girls appeared, one with a shirt showing off her stomach. The girl checking us in told us there would be breakfast in the morning (there was not) and once completing the check in came out behind the desk to one of the men loitering. It appeared they were together. The room was spacious - I would not describe it as clean but it wasn’t partially dirty. The door of our room had pretty large gap between the door and door frame, which made me feel very uneasy. Each time we walked through the lobby there were men constantly loitering and staring us down. It was incredibly strange. As a women, I was not comfortable being by myself. It was like this at night and in the morning. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel given the gaps in the doors, lack of professionalism by the desk clerk and random men standing around.

It was definitely above expectations!
