"Customerservice and local traditions at it's best ....near Geiranger...."

10.0

If you are visiting the Geiranger and Trollstigen area, be smart and stay overnight in the middle. As world wide travelers we often decide to stay by locals, more than at the places where all tourists are. This place, Norddal, is such a place. After hours walking, driving, climbing among tourists from all countries, we went "home" again to Petrines Guesthouse to rest, eat and sleep. The employees are among the best "taking-care-of-guests" we have ever seen and experienced during our traveling. And, maybe best of all, take a silent walk in the neighborhood and let the fresh air make your brain relaxing clear again, while taking an overview to the fjords close to. The Hosts,..... are homemade..

"Last minute booking"

8.0

Petrines was the only place left with a room and the only restaurant in 20km so we lucked out by finding it! This old retirement home was turned it to a guesthouse with just one person operating the reception and the restaurant. Room was ok - no soundproofing .. Beds were decently comfortable .. We did the tasting menu and everything was very good.

"Good food"

6.0

We stayed here for 2 nights. Realy nice breakfast. Homemade jam, bread and several local products. We ate a 3 course meal with Petrines own beer. Very tasty. A must try. The bathrooms were nice. One of the room, nr. 1, was a bit small for 2 adults. Room 11 was great, but did not have curtains that blocked the light. Good beds also in 11, but a bit small in nr.1. One can by local products from a nun monestery, and Melchiorfarm, but one can as easly visit the farm as it is just a good 5 min. walk from Petrines.

"The other side of Geiranger"

8.0

Away from the bustle of Geiranger, across the mountain, in this cosy little town of Naddal where the Fjord is name after. Petrines is a very homely place with very cosy sitting room with lots of books and magazines to browse. The dinner of slow roasted goat meat in herbs is one of the best meal we had so far. The desert of raspberry mousse cake is also excellent. Unlike Geiranger, one has to take it slow here, enjoy the serenity of a small town without the bustle of the hordes of tourist.

"Great staff/owners "

10.0

This we found out is a community run/owned hotel. We came in the low season and the staff service was the best we seen in Norway. Guess being owners of a business makes people proud and off their best. We had a room with a attic bed, and our 5 year old simply loved it. Lots to do with nature and walk around the area. Pity we only use it as a stopover stop

"Cozy but not worth the price"

6.0

Especially for the dinner. I have to say that we were extremely dissatisfied with the 3 course menu, for which we paid more than 40€ per person (400nok). The first course was an appetizer with some tiny portions of the village's specialities (which we also found on next day's breakfast). Main course was a well cooked fish with vegetables, nothing special, a little tasteless but good, and finally some apple pie which was decent enough. The wrong thing about it all was the amount of food, it was half a portion, literally! Even more painful for me because we were on a long journey and wanted to have a nice dinner to recover strenght and I recomended this place (normally we cooked our own food). We thought it would be worth the price for a special day... but it definitely wasn't and all my family was hungry afterwards. Shame on me.

"Greit overnattingssted langs fjorden - A nice over night stay along the fjord"

6.0

The old "old folks house" has been given new life as a guesthouse. It is located in the centre of the small "village" which only has one small grocery shop. With 12 rooms in the main building, Petrine can also offer other rooms in other locations in the village. We stayed in the main building. The room was quite small an offers only the bed (no chairs to sit in or desk to sit at). No TV or radio in the rooms or else where. So bring your PC. Bath room is nicely renovated with a bath tub. Ask for room 5 or 9...
