Sonder at The Liberty

The location was good & size of apartment was good. Washer & dryer were good too. Kitchen area great. Two bathrooms.

Property hadn’t been serviced when we checked in - previous occupants rubbish, sheets & towels were still there. Staff did rectify this as soon as possible. Bed was also quite small & awkwardly against a wall - makes it difficult for couples, especially when one needs a CPAP machine. No overhead lights in bedroom either, only lamps. Says on booking.com there’s parking on site but there really isn’t - big parking lot about 200m away behind sports oval.

Location was excellent for access to the city centre. Liberty village is great for bars and restaurants. The city itself is easy to get to by trolley car or bus.

The sound of the trains passing at the rear of the property. More towels would have been good.

It was a little confusing trying to find tower a in the parking garage and had a hard time finding our way around the building but once we figured it out it was easy and we enjoyed ourselves

Since discovering Sonder, it’s where I always book for my events in Toronto and Ottawa. The apartments are comfortable, well equipped and located within walking distance to my venues. In this case, I was working an event at the Enercare Centre. It’s an easy walk back and forth daily. I ended each long day on my feet with a glass of wine on the balcony overlooking the soccer fields, with the CN Tower in the distance. Simply ideal!

Parking can be an issue, but for me, the event offered exhibitor parking at the Enercare. If you were coming for leisure, you’d need to look into parking options.

Location and space

A few more utensils in kitchen and better lighting would have made it perfect

It’s a modern apartment on the 7th storey of a newer building in the Liberty Village neighbourhood of Toronto. Nice clean space, full kitchen with good appliances and really good knives, pots and pans, flatware…the sorts of things that are often second rate in Airbnbs and this is a good reason to choose Sonder over that company. Wifi is excellent. Neighbourhood is diverting, lots and lots of diverse dining options, an urban gem.

Things outside of Sonder’s control: the security is overkill and annoying. Having to enter a seven digit passcode three times every time you enter the building on these waist height keypads is frustrating. The building is WAY west of most things tourists will want to visit in Toronto and nowhere near the subway. Things inside their control: the bed isn’t comfortable. Mattress is bizarrely “crunchy” and sheets are this uncomfortable puzzle you’re fighting with all night. Sheets and pillowcases both slippery and cheap feeling. A good bed is a must and Sonder cheaped out. A mirror near the entry would be great too.
