Söðulsholt Cottages

Sodulsholt Cottages evokes the story of a real Icelandic family, which preserves and nurtures the tradition of breeding Icelandic horses. On the farm, litlle friedns of horses are adorable cats and dogs. The warm family atmosphere gave us the feeling of a home from which we did not want to leave. If you want to interact with owners, see horses, ride them or similar, just ask. Here you will find tranquility, peace and untuched true nature. Explore the west fjord of peninsula, it is worth it!! We did our shopping in Borgarnes, Bonus market, which is 50 km away if you are coming from Rejkjavik direction. Watch out because there is no closer market. We are only sorry that we were not able to see the aurora borealis due to the clouds. Excellent equipment of the house, warm and cozy, equiped with everything you need so that you don't have to worry about anything for a few days. Ideal for a family with two children, warm, very clean with all equipment and parking in front of the house. There are 3 other cottages next door, but you have enough peace and privacy. Check in/out at any time of the day, because the key is on the wall next to the entrance door with the code.

Perfect little cottage. Literally nothing bad to be mentioned about it. Confy, well maintaned, warm and well insulated despite the heavy winds we had during our stay. A lot of large windows (we saw a small stretch of the aurora right front the bed) and the kitchen has everything one would need for cooking a nice dinner. We even stopped near their farm and saw the beautiful horses they have, there was one nice guy who let us in for a couple of mins. Definitely recommend. It is not cheap but well… what’s cheap in Iceland? The price is fair anyway.

Location

Perfect location, tucked out of the way off the main road, with the most amazing views. The little cottage has everything you need inside. We absolutely loved the unique nature and character of the cottage. Highly recommend.

It was very clean and had everything we needed. The location was perfect!

The duvet covers weren’t the best and the pillows not the comfiest but only very minor! It didn’t affect our stay.

the stairs might be a bit steep to reach the upstairs bedroom, no problem for us but might be bothersome for others...

Great location for exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Although we did not see the Northern Lights due to cloudy weather, this definitely would be a fantastic location to see them if clear skies. Facilities were modern and very clean. Easy check in.

Be aware that to access the upstairs second bedroom, you need to climb up a ladder. The property clearly shows that on their photos. We had no problem with it.
