River Palace Hotel

Location near the river was good for us, but anyway, you'll likely need a car/taxi to get anywhere. It's easy to find thanks to the river location and everyone knows where you're talking about - the ex-pat/business community knows it well, and many of the international oil companies have small offices in the building. The basement bar was a nice place to hang out after work, open late, and it had a free pool table. If you see English speakers there, most likely they work for one of the oil companies.

Location on the riverside, near to centre of town is excellent. Room was surprisingly large & comfortable. Breakfast was decent, something there for everyone I guess. I was happy with my breakfast choices. Room service was quick and food as ordered.

Hot water was a bit slow to come through, we were on 7th floor. But worse was the water temperature in the shower oscillated between scalding hot & lukewarm though I worked out the water cycle after a while and managed to turn the water away before it got dangerous. But first time using it nearly got burnt. Not good...really need to fix that. Couldn't just put the shower nozzle up on the wall and shower normally. Had to hold it so could turn it away every time the scalding water came. Furniture was a bit dated, but still acceptable.

Room was fabulous, food in Bella Napoli and on the roof restaurant excellent

Excellent breakfast, nice and comfy hotel.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast had a very large selection and was well prepared.
