Casale di Maria, Domenica, and Walter were the best hosts during my stay and made me feel welcome and comfortable from the moment I arrived. My transportation was delayed, causing me to miss my transfer, but Domenica and Walter arranged transportation for me despite it being last-minute and late in the evening. Their kindness and willingness to help immediately put me at ease. Domenica took the time to tell me all about the town, provided me with a map, and recommended the best places to visit, eat, and enjoy dessert. She was always making sure I was comfortable, safe, and had everything I needed throughout my stay. The rooms were amazing. They were exceptionally clean, breakfast was provided every morning, and all the amenities I could need were available. If you are visiting Matera, you need to experience this place for yourself. I enjoyed my stay so much that I extended it for an additional night! Casale di Maria genuinely made my trip and left me with memories that will last a lifetime. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I can’t bring to explain the level of detail and preparation and communication. Five star on every account. Domenica….five stars. I want to bring her home with me she was just fantastic.

Assolutamente niente

Es war wie von uns gewünscht eine Unterkunft im Altstadtbereich mit Höhlencharakter.

I am so glad I choose to stay here, in the less touristy part of town but oh so close to magnificent views. Domenica, the lovely host, is so welcoming and always up for sharing tips or giving recommendations on where to eat, depending on your preferences. The room itself was perfect - I loved the historic cave nature of it, combined with the boutique feel, and fantastic modern amenities like the rainfall shower head, coffee machine, lots of space and a couch to relax on, and coming 'home' to a tidy replenished room every day after wandering in the hot sun. Across the road was a local artisan working every day, and everywhere was only a 5-10min walk. Best of all, it is away from the tour group masses who descended on the town as day-trippers from Bari :-)

Absolutely stunning accommodation. Everything was immaculate and really captured the beauty of the city. The communication was fantastic: informative and helpful.

How can you say marvelous any louder. Upon arrival we were greeted and given a marvelous overview of the city. The shuttle to and from parking was a plus. Authentic cave dwelling that had been beautifully preserved. In a great location in the Sassi. Dominica is the best!
