Should have had notice to bring own towels and toilet paper. Treated rudely when I enquired after the first night stay. Location and cleanliness good.

"Superb"

The rooms were spacious. Perfect number of beds, clean and felt really homey. I loved it all. And also not far from nearby shops! The service from the owners and staff was really great. They called, ckecked up on me while I was on my way and even offered to pick me up at the bus station. If that's not world class! We enjoyed our trip with my family and would highly recommend the Cock House should you ever be in Makhanda. Cannot wait to come back again!!!

"Wrong part of town and in need of improvement"

6.0

The room was clean and comfortable with a small kitchenette.

The website makes it seem like this is a historical building. In fact, the main building and restaurant were sold, leaving a few motel-like rooms. They were fine, but you aren't getting a room in an atmospheric old building. Also, the location is a bit out of the way and not terribly salubrious. Gaining access was a bit of a hassle as there was no bell and it took a while to find someone to open the gate from the street and show us our room. There was an attractive garden with tables - but no chairs. So when the electricity suddenly died, you couldn't exactly sit outside.
