Minshuku Unzen

Great traditional hotel in a nice location. The ladies hosting were super nice and welcoming, with a great traditional dinner and breakfast. Really recommended.

We enjoyed our stay at this traditional Ryokan very much. The host was an old lady who was kind and welcoming. The room was clean and spacious. You get a yukata, towels and hot tea/water on arrival. We visited in December when old Japanese houses can get cold, but we were warm and comfortable in our room thanks to the heating. The shared bathroom had a small and hot onsen. The traditional breakfast was delicious and generous. If you visit by car: There is a small parking lot for free next to the property for 1-2 cars. The location is convenient on walking distance of Unzen Jigoku (10 min) and many public bath houses.

Impeccably clean place that was probably built in the 60's or 70's but felt like new. Traditional Japanese breakfast was great. Lovely bath. Spacious rooms.

There were some buildings nearby that are run down (possibly abandoned), but this place is like the gem and we loved that it was still going strong.

The friendliness of the lady, the typical experience, the futon. The bathroom was next to our room so it didn’t even feel like a separate room.

Pillows were very hard… made of stone maybe?

Extremely clean. Old style hotel. Great room and very good size with towels and yukata if you need. Hot tea and water provided. We enjoyed the breakfast. Japanese style but not too overwhelming. Close to unzen centre ad there are restaurants for evening food there and plenty onsens

Didn't use the bath. Looked like normal water. But nothing negative about the pace
