Hotel Castle Suites

Das Hotel als solches ist großartig. Ich habe nur keine Rechnung über die Bezahlung bekommen. Weder vor Ort noch per Email, was mir angekündigt wurde. Trotz mehrmaliger Nachfragen und Anrufe habe ich nie eine Rechnung bekommen. Sorry, aber für eine Dienstreise ist das leider ein absolutes No-Go. Ich kann die Ausgaben so nicht geltend machen und bekomme diese nicht erstattet.

There was a lot to like about the hotel. Firstly, the staff is very kind and helpful. When we arrived they gave us all the information necessary and during our stay there were always in for a chat. On the first night we noticed the shower was slightly broken, we requested a repair and already within one or two hours they fixed it. Furthermore, the room itself was simple, nicely decorated and comfortable. There was a well working airco present and a safe with enough space for some essentials. The cleaning service did a great job as well and worked from Monday till Saturday, delivering clean towels and cleaning the floor from sand. The hotel itself also looks nice, with lovely Cretan decorations and three well-sized pools. The pools have clean water with a very good temperature to enjoy yourself well on a warm afternoon. There are also various objects present next to the pools to use for in the pool (blow-up beds, balls, etc.). Furthermore, the beds along the pool were never fully taken, which always give you the opportunity to enjoy a good amount of sunbathing. During our trip we rented a car and we were happy to see there was enough space to park the car behind the hotel. In front of the hotel there is a busy street which is usually fully occupied by other cars. It is therefore recommended to park the car right behind the hotel. There is also a gate which can be accessed in order to enter the hotel. Sometimes the gate is closed, but you should be able to pull it open en closed again. It only occurred one night that the gate was locked and we had to walk via the front desk.

Essentially there were only two things which could improve from my viewing point. The shower situation, I am not sure if it was the same at every room, but while showering the water would fill much of the bathroom. The shower itself is not properly sealed down, leaving gaps for water to escape. After the shower you have to mop the water towards a little pit which is right next to the toillet, leaving part of the water to remain on the other side of the toillet. The second thing is the breakfast. There is quite a small variation in breakfast. Every day there is the same menu. The food is not really fresh and the choice is pretty limited for a hote like this. It costs €11 per person, while there is a nice cafe around the corner which makes a lovely breakfast for less money. These two points are, for me, quite small. The breakfast was not that bad and we still made use of it a few times. Furthermore, the shower situation was easily resolved by throwing a towel on the water.

I have asked for the invoice for three times, but have not received it yet. I have been back for more than one week. They still cann't send it to me. I do not know why.

The deluxe 2-bed apartment was ideal for our family holiday. Kitchenette was good enough to make tea/coffee and keep drinks cool in the fridge. All clean. Good pool. Friendly and helpful staff. Maybe a bit of maintenance was required in the room: couple of light switches not working reliably. Excellent location for all the tavernas on the main street and the beach.
