The Doyle Hotel

My stay at The Doyle Hotel (12/13–12/14) was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, primarily due to a severe personal security breach and a complete lack of staff presence. I feel compelled to share this to warn future guests. All major issues: • We were locked out of our room for hours, 12PM - 6:00PM because the provided text code did not work. • The concierge desk was repeatedly unattended. We were told that there will always be on attendee there from 8-11pm. No one was physically there each time we went to search for a person to help with the door. Even at checkout around 9:30 AM on the 14th, the desk was completely unstaffed. • After a lengthy search, a hotel employee was finally located. Instead of providing a proper, unique code for our specific room, this employee handed us a universal master code that could open ANY door in the hotel. We tested this with our friend's room and were able to successfully open the rooms • This is a monumental security failure that left us feeling completely unsafe and vulnerable for the entirety of our stay. If this employee shared it with us, who else has it? We did not ask for this code—we asked for our specific room code. • To top off the security nightmare, our bathroom was not cleaned to a standard expected of any hotel, further diminishing the quality of the stay. Given the repeated failures to provide basic service and, most importantly, the profound security breach, I would strongly advise caution before booking here. Guest safety was severely compromised. Hoping to receive compensation or refund from Blue Suede Hospitality.

Wonderful location. Beautiful property with thoughtful details (like a curated collection of books to read in the gorgeous, soaring lobby library).

Lack of parking. The property recommends a public lot nearby, but it's an unattended lot, across railroad tracks, back behind a building. Not ideal for a woman traveling alone.

The hotel was different then most but I really enjoyed the experience. The hotel was nice and clean. The book store was great. They had this little cafe called cafe Charlottesville. It's a little hole in the wall but it's great. The valet service was great as well. James was very nice and respectful and also he was very helpful. Very sweet

Clean and well furnished. Plenty of space in room and somewhere to relax downstairs. Excellent position for rail station. Good food.

On line check in seemed impossible. Lack of details pre arrival about parking and we could not pay using the qr code and phone.

Great location

The guy at the front door who checked me in was incredibly rude and a liar. He told me I had to use their parking service for $25 a night. I chose to ignore him and park for free down the street.

Location excellent to walk to the station and also fairly easy to go sightseeing. Interior well decorated and equipped. Staff generally friendly and helpful . Meals conveniently available on site. WiFi connection good.

We are not digitally oriented and I am not prepared to risk sending my personal information on my phone to book in on line. I was quite satisfied to book in at the reception which was open at that time. The services of a parking valet would have invalidated our hire car insurance and we were unable to get the parking app to work to self park. We had to ask our son in Valpo to pay for the parking.

The room and atmosphere was very nice. We enjoyed ourselves. The kitchen had issues and our reservation was canceled but we had the most amazing dinner across the street at BlackCow Chophouse
