I love love love this hotel. It is absolutely one of a kind and Alan made my stay so comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel to every guest. Perfect for families or for solo travellers. The daily complimentary breakfast is also the cherry on top of a truly fantastic stay.

Monte Azulu is an architectural gem! Very comfortable rooms that are beautifully designed, offering a modern feel while being respectful and reflective of the local traditions. Large folding doors with shutters open onto a deck, providing an amazing jungle / ocean view (I was in an upper suite) and a refreshing breeze. (Bonus: they make their own line of bath products, which I thoroughly enjoyed.) Alan, the owner/host, was very attentive and helpful. He provided excellent restaurant recommendations and promptly answered all my questions. He didn’t hesitate to assist with purchases I needed to make and even helped source local crafts I had requested. It’s important to note that the entire area is built on a hill. Unless you’re staying beachfront, your accommodations will likely have some. I come from a city that’s basically flat, so I took my time and adjusted within a few days. If you’re seeking a quieter atmosphere with access to excellent restaurants, food (pop-up farmer truck/stand - brilliant!), and beautiful beach, San Agustinillo is the perfect choice. It’s an excellent alternative to Mazunte—which is fun, but bigger and busier—yet still within walking distance if you choose to explore.

The rooms are absolutely stunning, and the terraces looking out to the sea are beautiful too. We loved evening - the chill out spaces, the breakfasts, the staff. That bath will live in my dreams for a long time! Also the commitment to sustainability was evident throughout the hotel.

Our room was beautifully decorated and had a beautiful view. The breakfast was great and Alan, the host and the rest of the staff were very kind and helpful.

The best about Monte Uzulu, apart from the view, the design, and the location is the host! Alan is an excellent host, available with the best recommendations and he made sure we were comfortable and happy even when we had some issues that needed to be looked at. The location is perfect, safe and after you walk down the stairs you are right at the heartbeat of San Agustinillo, and at the same time high enough so you have quietness and tranquility. The view from the Suite is exceptional.

If I have to say something about the property, it would be that I would prefer the suite we stayed to be bigger for extra comfort, but again when you open the balcony door the room becomes bigger.

Our time at Monte Uzulu was so special and relaxing, the presence of beautiful architecture in the jungle only a stones throw away from the beach made for the perfect getaway from the noise and pollution of the city. My partner and I feel rejuvenated and can’t wait to spend more time at Monte Uzulu
