Mold! There’s a lot of it—this is a red flag for us—found in every corner and crevice. The building should be torn down and rebuilt. After we checked in, the room was rather dirty; there was a lipstick stain on the mug, which was unpleasant. The location is inconvenient: there’s only one way to enter from the road, which is extremely awkward if you’re on your own bike—you have to break the rules and ride on the sidewalk. Parking is also problematic: there’s a little lot that fills up with bikes by evening, and it’s better not to use it at all, because you won’t be able to get your bike out afterward.
GBCheap city centre accommodation
Not the cleanest hotel, but you get what you pay for. The location is convenient and close to the town centre. The hotel itself feels quite dated. The room and bathroom were a reasonable size but in need of a proper deep clean. We raised the issue with reception and asked for someone to fix the clogged sink and shower—neither were sorted. While the room was tidied, the bed made, and fresh towels provided, it was clear the cleaning was very superficial. The walls are paper-thin, and the staff were surprisingly noisy early in the morning—lots of door knocking and loud chatter from around 6am. They also charge an 8% fee just to issue an invoice, which makes absolutely no sense. If you’re after a cheap stay and don’t mind the compromises, this might work—but be prepared for what comes with the price.
USI enjoyed the staff the most. They were committed to making sure that everything went well. I really loved my room. It was spacious, and how it was decorated was perfect, plus it had everything I needed and more.
The description mentioned an on-site restaurant and rooftop bar. They were no longer in service, HOWEVER, there is a coffee shop and the location was very easy to receive an assortment of meals from the Grab app.
