"Fantastic hostel"

10.0

I only stayed here one night in a very comfortable bed in a roomy six-bed dorm for DKK 120/€15.40 and loved the place. There are lots of showers, a kitchen plus a large common area. Norreport metro station is short distance away to get to the centre, but to be honest Copenhagen isn't enormous and I took a leisurely stroll of about an hour all the way from the hostel to the centre. The area round the hostel is full of bars, restaurants, food shops, etc. The hostel's philosophy of emphasising solidarity and diversity is spot on too.

"Great atmosphere and location"

8.0

I stayed for 7 nights, in what I think had to be the best double room. It's at the back of the hostel and at the end of the corridor, so it was very quiet. Bed and pillows comfortable, everything clean. The cafe/bar is comfortable with plenty of sofas, how busy it is obviously varies according to time, day of week, and if there is entertainment happening. The volunteers and management are delightful, helpful and generally work hard to make it pleasant, and all profit goes to Action Aid. During my stay the guest kitchen was clean and my food was not taken by other guests. A small irritation was the door to the dining area, the closing mechanism is broken which results in a loud and unpredictably timed bang whenever it is used. The toilets and showers (2 of each on my floor) were definitely adequate for this time of year, and were also clean and worked well. There is a strict no smoking policy, for which I was grateful! I hadn't stayed in a hostel for many years, and I'm not a good sleeper so would not like a dormitory anyway, so can't comment on that. Thank you all xx

"Amazing Hostel"

10.0

Everytime I spend time at Globalhagen I feel happy and excited. Mellemrummet, the cafe is full of welcoming, friendly people, nice cozy atmosphere and a lot of interesting and cool events. The events are a very mixed, which is a cool idea as it means it attracts different groups of people. The staff is very friendly and always very helpful and willing to advice you and help you in whatever way possible. It is also and incredible initiative that it is non-profit and all the earnings goes to help a local initiative for Demoratic feministic leadership in Uganda. The fact that you can can also hear about their past projects and see they actually were developed and put into action is awesome as it means it isnt all just talk and words, but action at work. Always a pleasure to come around at Globalhagen In Copenhagen!

"Wonderful hostel with great values in the fight against poverty and inequality"

10.0

Globalhagen's location is great. it's very central with immediate walking distance to bars, cafes and supermarkets. Great vintage shops in the neighborhood and there's a bike Rental available in the backyard. bikes can be rented immediately via an app at a good price. the kitchen is good for cooking and there's a dining room to sit together. Good connection to the airport or train station. The bed is comfortable and the rooms are warm and clean. The duvet and pillow are soft and cozy and you sleep very well there. in the café you'll find a good selection of games and pleasant background music. Free and great WiFi. Cozy cafe in the house and the staff are just fantastic. they are Super nice and try everything possible to solve problems. besides they take their time to help with advice and action for as long as necessary. I felt very comfortable. The whole social concept is great and the fact that, the hostel contribute with all profits of overnight stays to support worldwide social projects, is fantastic.

"Nice place with minor problems"

6.0

I liked this hostel but there were problems. 1. There was no curtan in the sealing window. We woke up in the middle of the night when the first light came up. 2. It was raining the whole week and the room was WERY humid, nothing dryed even in a couple of days. 3. The air disint move. We hold the window open whole evening and even so the air was bad in the night. We open the window often in the night for a few moments. 4. The soap in the toilets was empty for a week. Having handsoap in a minimum, I think. 5. There was only one cuttingboard in the kichen. Overall still a nice experience! The staff was nice (even when we had to wait for a long timw to see them in the reseption, even had to call them after a 30 min. Wait) and the atmosphere was chill and nice. The location was perfect.

"Look elsewhere"

2.0

I've stayed here twice.. Where do I begin.. Alright, the first time was in January of 2018. I went out to Denmark to see my tattoo artist. This place was maybe a 3 minute walk from his shop. So you can understand the convenience factor. The first morning I woke up, I had red bumps all over my arm. Want to take a guess? Yup, Bed bugs. I complained and they moved me to another room. They washed my clothes for me and for the gear that couldn't be washed they stuck that in the freezer. So maybe the bugs wasn't really their fault because people come from all over the world, but still gross. I stayed there for 14 days. The second time I stayed there was late June 2019. Again 14 days. For the same reason. The staff are volunteers, and the volunteers at the time were pretty bad. I did not experience bed bugs this time, so that's good. However, I booked my stay 8 months in advance because I knew I was going to see my artist again. When I arrived I showed my papers to the staff that I had been booked in a certain room and paying a higher price because I booked directly through Globalhagen, they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about and sent me to another room. Now, I wouldn't have been so upset had they emailed me before I got there to let me know the room I booked was unavailable, but they didn't even have the courtesy to do that. I paid about $100 extra US dollars booking through them than I would have booking through hostelworld. I had already paid and after flying for 12 hours and being 8000 km from home, was I supposed to just skip all over town to find somewhere else to stay because they gave my spot away? During this stay, I had to endure louder than average noise from the street because they sent me to a room that was overlooking the street from 1 floor above street level. People were loud, smoking pot and drinking. The windows are paper thin and it was super hot with no fan or air conditioning so unfortunately those were staying open. The kitchen upstairs is disgusting.. People don't even wash their dishes, they just rinse them and put them back (ew) I stopped using it after I witnessed that. Also I would go out to restaurants and bring back leftovers that I planned to finish the next day, and people were stealing my food that I kept in the fridge. I labeled it (as they advised) but that didn't help, if someone wants to steal your stuff, they will. Not to mention, there's food in that fridge that has been sitting there (labeled) from November 2018. So.. do we really want to keep our fresh food in that same fridge as that food? (spoiler alert: mold) You're still being gouged for bed linen, and ear plugs are no longer supplied. And seriously. Have fun with the loud drunken teens slamming doors around at 3am, should you choose to stay here. I sent my concerns to management in an email upon returning. I was met with a response of "Why didn't you complain sooner" and "we aren't responsible for the actions of other people. Actually, one of the first things I did when I arrived in June was ask for a manager when my spot was given away in the room I booked 8 months prior. I was told there wasn't one on site. And although you're not responsible for the actions of other people, you're staff can still look into concerns, such as people smoking weed on your property right underneath guest rooms. I thought Marijuana was illegal in Denmark? I was also told in the email "Hostel life isn't for everyone" A passive aggressive message sent to me by management. I've stayed in hostels most of my travelling life, so I can assure you, this place just sucks. But if you want to stay here, go right ahead. I've heard good things about the generator hostel in copenhagen. I'll look into that the next time I'm in town.

"More a 4.5 really."

8.0

Superb location right off one of the main streets. Staff are friendly, there are good facilities, but lots of stairs. It felt very secure. I would have given it 5 stars but for three things. 1. There is a dishwasher in the kitchen which never seemed to be either emptied or used. I personally put the dishwasher powder in it when it was full and switched it on but it didn't seem to work. The same dishes were in it for days, and people were just taking them out as needed, hand washing, using and then putting back in the dishwasher. Mentioned to staff nothing happened. 2. There was no washing up liquid, just two empty bottles. Mentioned to staff, nothing happened. 3. On my first full day I had a boat trip planned for 9am. I was up really early to get breakfast and make a packed lunch, only to find the kitchen locked. From what another guest said, the kitchen is normally open 24/7 but someone was in cleaning it around 7.30am and allowed the door to close at which point it had locked. No staff were on duty and I ended up just hanging around til around 9.15 when I found someone. Initially she could not open the door either but did eventually find the correct key. Its all good, yes I missed my trip, but I was able to reschedule for the following day.

"Typical Copenhagen additional fee "

4.0

You must pay extra for bed linens of 50kr which is ridiculously high. I have been to few other hostels in Copenhagen and never seen this. In addition the rooms are unbearably hot with no fan or a/c and some windows cannot be open due to broken or zip locked closed. I would find a different hostel if you are looking for a cheap place because paying extra for bed linen ensures it is no longer the cheapest option. Beds are okay tho. Location is decent too.
