"Even the staff no longer cares"

2.0

Like any hostel, they have a few reasonable, basic rules-- quiet period, use of linens, etc. When I was shown to my shared four-bed room at midnight, I was concerned about waking others up, but the staff member wasn't and didn't expect the others to be in; my first clue. Then I noticed that the two beds being used had no linens on them, apparently to avoid the extra €7 fee I was told was mandatory. The host saw this, too. An hour after making the bed I returned to the room to find my pillow missing. At four a.m., three people came in and out, opening the door about 10 times over a half hour period with much discussion. Apparently, they expected to be able to have a free bed, and didn't know what to do about two paying people in the room. Two decided to stay and attempted to make their beds, with the lights still on, of course. If you are just in CPH to party late, and aren't concerned about your belongings, or sleeping on unclean beds, stay here. But it's a far less respectful or clean place to stay than Generator. I naively expected all of Copenhagen to be as nice as that hostel from a previous visit. I won't again.

"nice location but not very satisfactory facilities"

6.0

The kitchen is always dirty even I saw a volunteer cleaning it. It may be the fault of the guests but it may also be the fact that they do not clean it very well. The kitchen is not well equipped so it is not convenient for guests who always cook. There are not enough toilets and bathrooms so you have to wait. BUT the volunteers are very nice and friendly, though not quite helpful sometimes. I also found it a bit unreasonable to pay for the bed linens given that the rent is already not cheap. In conclusion,

"Nice & cheap hostel in a good location"

10.0

I really loved staying at Globalhagen. it is a great hostel for young people to stay in, clean, cheap, all the necessary facilities like kitchen and free luggage room. I also really love the concept of the hostel being a non-profit so you feel like you are supporting a good cause while travelling. The only thing that you should know is that they charge extra for bed linen, but you can always bring your own :)

"Value for money"

10.0

Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms very quite nice too and large enough. Quite good location in a central area in Copenhagen from where it is very easy and fast to walk to the city center. The bar downstairs was also lovely and hosts many cultural events. Large and well-equipped kitchen.

"Good Hostel!"

8.0

This was my first stay in hostel and it was good. Woman on reception was kind and she let us drop our baggage in baggage storage before our check-in and even after our check-out she let us leave our baggage there so we didn´t have to take it all over the city. There is no elevator. Room was bright and clean. We got lucky so we spent night alone in room for six people. Bathroom is shared. I can recommend this hostel.

"Really bad value for money"

4.0

The hostel is well placed and the staff is kind enough but rooms was too little, old and above all dirty. It was impossible sleep quite, all time there were sounds from other rooms or from people entering to the hostel since the door was broken and made lot of noise. In addition It was not advised that you have to bring your owns sheets and towels if you don't want to pay extra taxes. Only one toilet in each floor and two showers (even one not working) so be patient. Generally it was too expensive considering the quality of the installations.

"Non-profit, eco-friendly, volunteer-based hostel"

6.0

I really like the idea of this hostel - the hostel is volunteer-based, non-profit and eco-friendly. The money they make goes to charity. There's a cafe (Cafe Mellanrummet) inside the hostel where different kind of events (talks, debates, arts) are organised. The hostel is located in the "hipster" and bohemien part of Copenhagen where's bunch of good restaurants, cafes and vintage shops. Sounds too good to be true? The hostel itself is fine - but just fine. We had a privateroom with a doublebed, a nighttable and a chair. That's all there is in a room and that's all you need (well, maybe a bench to put your stuff). Toilets and showers were really clean and even though someone had complained about the issue of having two toilets and two bathrooms for the whole floor, I always could just walk in to the toilet/shower. The hostel has decorated and named the rooms differently which is nice. On the downside, you hear everything which is done outside your room - you hear everytime someone opens the door to the floor or to their room, you hear talking, you hear everything (but the hostel offers free earplugs so there is kind if a solution to the problem). You can also see how the volunteer work affects the hostel: receptionist was somewhere else than at the reception and we needed to waite a while, no one told where the bathrooms are etc. Little things that can make a huge difference for the whole experience. Overall the stay was, as I said in the beginning, just fine. It gets a plus for its charity work.

"Average and OK"

6.0

-No elevator (not a huge issue for us, but just something to be aware of if you do not want to walk stairs) -It is located on what can be a really noisy street. There was loud noise from the bars and theater until 1-2 in the morning and there wasn't a lot we could do to avoid it. Again, not a huge issue for us. Could be a deal breaker for others. -You are in a more residential area and therefore further away from the tourist-y area of the city. This was really more of a plus for us, but again, may be an issue for others. -There was one toilet/shower on our floor for several rooms of people; this was easily the most frustrating thing we had to deal with. Not particularly clean either, but decent. I will probably not be inclined to book here again, as we are not too much into the party scene and prefer to explore and sightsee. Would recommend for a larger group and a younger crowd.

"Not an easy stay"

6.0

So it should be noted that we haven't been teens in decades and are accustomed to some what more comfort than the hostel offers. One issue, for me, was that it is so stark. The room had a bed, a simple shelf as a desk and an open closet with hangers. No fan, no stand for a suitcase. We had to leave suitcases on the floor. The curtain did not darken the room. Being on the first floor there was no security if the window was open and it got stuffy hot in May. There is the constant sound of doors since one enters a gate, then the building, then the hall and then the room. Some cork bumpers on door frames might help., The last day there was no cold water in the shower which renders a shower less functional than no hot water. Also, 2 toilets and 2 showers for an entire floor is scant adequate at times. My feeling is that we can't afford a hotel in Copenhagen so won't go again.

"Friendly staff and cozy common areas"

8.0

Upon arrival I checked in without problems even though it was a friend of mine who booked the room and would arrive later. The staff member kindly showed me to my room and in the mean time explained everything I had to know. There’s a nice common area on the main floor full of tables and sofas to chill and play board games if you want to. Besides there’s a cafeteria where you can get coffees and other stuff for a fair price. On the top floor there’s a kitchen where you can use all the amenities(fridge, oven..) a dining room and also a TV to watch a film if you feel like it. As for the room, the bed was surprisingly comfortable but I did miss a locker for the luggage ( yet there are small ones in the corridor) All in all, I would strongly recommend this Hostel for ppl trying to save some krones, looking for a central location and willing to meet more travelers.
