Temple Hotel Daitaiji

Great experience to stay at a Temple and get lots of Information to the temple and Buddhism by the very friendly monk. The staff was also very friendly and it was a very nice stay with lots of interesting activities.

L’expérience aurait pu être poussée un peu plus pour le côté temple et spirituel. Le prix ne comprend aucun service, il faut payer chaque expérience en plus. Rapport qualité prix mauvais, les expériences sont trop chères (10000 yen a deux pour un sauna, alors qu’on paye 400 yen a côté pour un onsen naturel)

It is a unique place and I would keep it hidden to avoid crowds when we come there next time :)

- The place is gorgeous and spotlessly clean. - Beautiful traditional living quarters. - Many many rooms to look through and admire. - You can participate in sounding the bell with the monk in the evening.

- Just be aware that you are getting a huge space with many many rooms all to yourself if you are just a group of one or two. The cost you are paying is for the space not for luxuries like meals etc.

I cannot recommend this enough. The temple itself is beautiful, and the surrounding area as well. Everyone was extremely nice! We had to use google translate a couple of times to ask certain questions but everything went smoothly. We also selected the option of joining the morning prayer and stamp making with the monk (which were both really good), as well as the dinner (which was incredible). I don’t think we realised at the time of booking the size of the “room”, but it was essentially a massive place just for the two of us! (I think it can fit up to 6 or 8 people), so it really felt like we had the whole area just for us. We went by car and did a few stops around the temple which were also very worth while. Overall, we really enjoyed it and highly recommend both the stay and joining some of their experiences.

Nothing bad to add. Just keep in mind some things are paid in cash, so make sure you have enough when booking the different experiences.

Tolles Hotel in einer Tempelanlage, sehr traditionell jedoch ohne Verzicht auf Komfort. Liegt etwas abseits und ohne Auto etwas schwierig zu erreichen. Sehr nettes Personal und Tempelbetreiber. Haben uns wohlgefühlt

Wir hatten die Problematik das wir leider kein Auto hatten und mussten alles zu Fuß oder mit dem Taxi machen. Das gestaltete sich aufgrund der abgelegenen Lage etwas schwierig ohne Auto.

It was a unique and authentic experience, spending the day in a real temple with a real monk, without other visitors. It offered a genuine insight into temple life, the history of Buddhism, and included engaging activities (buddhist statues, stamps, and morning meditation).
