Escarpa - the Madeira Hideaway

There are simply too many positive things to list what I liked, starting from the super warm welcome and the genuine friendliness of the staff and owner, a spectacular view from our room (room 7, full window front), the beds which are of high quality including the bed linen and the room was immaculately clean as well as the rest of the property. The room was also equipped with a small kitchenette area where you can make coffee and small stuff and a fridge filled with beverages. We had a lovely and private terrace as well. The pool is one of a kind - infinity at its best. It is a very special and intimate place where you are made feel as if you belong here. Also the breakfast deserves a big shout out: it provides everything your heart can desire, a true smorgasboard of delicacies made and served with love.

I loved everything including the secluded location, the challenging access with the car (you find the Cascata do Anjos just round the corner which attract lots of visitors you have to pass before taking an almost 180degree turn to drive up a steep ramp to arrive at Escarpa, something that makes a truly adventurous heart smile) and a few steep stairs to get you from the private parking up to the stunning view of your room (can be a challenge for the handicapped, not so fit or elderly people to bring your luggage up, but help is always just round the corner).

We had a wonderful stay, the location is excellent, it was quiet and relaxing and the staff was amazing. The breakfast every morning was also wonderful!

Das liebevoll zubereitete Frühstück an reizend gedeckten Tischen ließ keine Wünsche offen. Frisch zubereitete Kaffeesorten, frischer Orangensaft und Eierspeisen werden an den Tisch gebracht, alles andere steht am Buffet. Am Pool liegen jeden Tag frische Badetücher zur Verfügung. Das 90 Grad Restaurant haben wir dreimal besucht und waren immer äußerst zufrieden. Wenn man einen 30minütigen Fußweg nicht scheut, kann man durch den alten Tunnel zum Steinhaus (Casa Pedra) laufen oder für seeehr Sportliche bergauf zum Planalto.

Die traumhaft Lage des Hotels mit sensationeller Aussicht, das Zimmer, das einzigartige Frühstück und vor allem die überaus herzliche Gastgeberin! Ales war für uns etwas Besonderes mit hohem Erholungsfaktor!
