Happy Closet & Wasamon Hostel

Very kind owners! The private room was quite large and had what you expect! The shared kitchen was also nice! The location of the hostel is around 10-15 minute walk from the bus station and 20 minute walk from the castle. I enjoyed my stay here :) They offer a cheap breakfast, but I didn't use it since I prepared my own in the shared kitchen. Also has 100 yen laundry!

Tomo and Masa are great hosts. You can feel you are at their house because of their hospitality and at the same time having the freedom to get in and out as it is a hostel/guesthouse. Even the house itself I wouldn't call it hotel or hostel, it's really a house, with typical toilet and bathroom from a house, so you get a very authentic, Japanese experience (this is for you if you don't look for a luxury experience but rather a shared and chill experience). I chose this place because of the reviews about them. I wanted to have a more local approach to my visit in Kumamoto and it felt great. They would ask about my day and say hello and goodbye as family would do anytime we would meet at the entrance. They even tag your bed with your name, which makes it more especial and welcoming! And the room has plenty of space for storage and a locker for each of us. Also, there are common spaces to meet the other guests and a dinner offered by Tomo and Masa every Saturday to meet those who want to join plus some Japanese friends of theirs. I keep this beautiful memory with me! It was my first stop in Kyushu and that was a great start! またありがとう！

The beds can make a bit of noise when you move but that was never a problem, we were still quiet and didn't wake each other up :)

The owners are so helpful and friendly! The place is very good value and clean, it has everything you need and there’s kitchen, washing machine, dryer and a balcony to hang your clothes.

Had a great time in Kumamoto and the hosts, Toma and Masa were amazing!!

Cozy and comfortable!

The staff were very friendly and the hostel was comfortable. There were cooking facilities and a clean kitchen. Overall, a nice, clean and comfortable place to stay.

The air conditioning didn't seem to be working, or at least not working well, at night time so the room was quite hot.
