Hmong Sister House - Hostel

We helped pick herbs behind the house. I had no idea what I was doing, but the aunties laughed with me and showed me. That’s where I met someone special too. Wild, huh?

There’s a kind of quiet here that doesn’t feel empty. It feels full. Like the kind of quiet where your brain finally chills out and lets you just be.

I sat outside writing in my notebook with a blanket and some hot tea. The stars came out and I just... stayed there. Didn’t need anything else.

Limited charging outlets

The room’s basic. The food’s homey. The water’s cold. But I don’t remember any of that. What I remember is how it felt to be there—like I wasn’t just passing through, like I was part of something.

Lily is the kind of person who just gets people. She didn’t talk a lot, but when she did, it meant something. Her whole family was just... kind. They showed me how they live, and I honestly didn’t want to leave.

Such a peaceful place to relax - the views are immaculate and the people are lovely xx I would recommend doing the family dinner at least one night (it’s a wonderful way to meet people and the food is great!) and the bamboo hike (its muddy but the views are worth it!)

The trek outside the village was my favorite part. The kind where you stop just to breathe because the view’s so good. Took about 20 photos of one tree. No regrets.

I didn’t know anyone when I got there, but by the second night, we were all sitting around sharing snacks and talking about our lives. Something about that place makes it easy to talk to people. Or maybe it’s the rice wine again?

Didn’t expect to find my favorite travel story in a wooden house with a hole in the roof and rice drying out front, but here we are. It was the twist I didn’t know I needed.

Sticky rice, strong tea, and stories around the fire. I didn’t understand every word, but I felt every moment. Funny how that works.
