Ai Terrazzini

Struttura meravigliosa in una delle vie principali dei Sassi di Matera (dunque facilmente raggiungibile con i trasfer), tutto pulitissimo, arredamento elegante, tutti i confort e servizi. Stanza con terrazzino con vista incredibile. Personale ottimo e gentile. Colazione a buffet eccellente. Se dovessi tornare a Matera, sceglierei questa struttura di nuovo!

The view was absolutely out of this world, there’s no doubt about it. I’m sure I was given the room with the best view with good intent. They offer a cocktail or ice cream at aperitif hour which is a thoughtful touch (chargeable of course). Breakfast was also really great, so much to choose from and all freshly made. The staff are also lovely.

Note I was a solo traveller - Sadly I found my room extremely creepy and uncomfortable. Having seen the pictures of all of the rooms, I would have much preferred any other than the one I was given (albeit the incredible view from my doorway). The choice of furniture is very weird, from ancient wooden random feature furniture to the strangest and most uncomfortable futuristic metal armchair, the ‘wardrobe’ being an ancient white cloth on a pole that opens up to a creepy chest and dark open wardrobe space, but which also stored what must’ve been a spare bed. The bathroom I think is meant to be the feature of the room with the huge tub, but it was really not nice being in there, especially after I discovered a huge dark hole behind a wooden board on the wall used for storage. What made it worse is finding exceptionally dirty parts of the bathroom (toilet roll holder of all things). The AC unit also needs replacing, it was noisy and would not turn off until the next day. The picture of the room on the listing does not show these details and has very different furniture in there. I was only staying the one night, but I do find it an awful shame the effort is not made with the interior - I have found this a common theme with properties blessed with great views. I believe the high rating is heavily down to the location/views and pot luck of which room you get given.

Location is excellent. Staff are efficient, helpful and friendly. I can’t ask for more

My room is on the very top requiring lots of steps. I should have stayed in a lower level room because of my knees

Air conditioning was spotty; cave rooms don’t make for great A/C.

Clean and spacious apartment. Perfectly located with outstanding views of Sassi Barisano. We loved this location… easy walk (via stairs of course) to Palombaro Lungo and Piazza Vittorio Venetto. This room has its own small balcony, which would have been an ideal place to unwind each evening, but it was too cold for us in mid-May! There’s a beautiful Terrace (shared used by all guests) which is ideal for a late afternoon drink or a quiet moment of reflection. Breakfast buffet accommodates to a wide range of tastes - you won’t leave hungry! On-site staff have an excellent grasp of English. I would like to mention Maria, who was exceptionally helpful to us, especially with booking bus tickets for our onward journey (as we visited here without a rental car). She also made restaurant suggestions and phoned to make dinner reservations on our behalf. As English-speaking tourists, we truly appreciate this level of care and assistance. There’s a very small fridge in the room, wine glasses and tea cups. All bars and restaurants close by. Loved our time here!!
