St James Hotel Selma Tapestry Collection by Hilton

The property itself is amazing. A lot of history here. The staff, Lucas, and sherica, the day clerk are very, very professional, and need arsise,lol,. This is the 2nd time staying her and would highly recommend it.

Nothing.. the back door locking mechanism wasn't functioning correctly. But it was all good.

Beware when booking. I booked a balcony over the river. Upon arriving they were sold out. There were 5 cars in the parking lot when I left this morning at 5am. When leaving, there was no drop box or anyone behind the desk. Had to leave my room key under the mouse and call them when I was on the road. Beautiful place, clean and comfortable and probably the safest option in Selma. Also, the staff was not at the desk upon arriving, had to wait 10 minutes, and when said person walked in they smelled of weed and talking on their cell phone while waiting on me.

More than expected "continental". Milk, and hot water for tea, and tea unavailable. Beautiful atrium, accommodating staff. Lovely view from great 2nd floor veranda. Beautiful flowera

Nothing that couldn't be overlooked as it was the first day opening!

We were at the St. James Hotel last week and updated news indicates they are closed and will reopen under new management. I guess that's a good thing. The venue is very historic and important to the Selma community. We were there for lunch. The food was OK but the service was unorganized which made it tough to pay the higher prices being charged.

Although there was a heavy gas smell as we walked to our rooms, we were told, "No problem. It's only in the courtyard." The rooms surrounded the courtyard so, indeed, it was a problem. Although we were told breakfast came with the room, there was no breakfast available nor were we given any credit. No working TV. No TV remote. No working telephone. No one at checkout. Room keys expired before we checked out. The incidental charges of $50/room times 2 rooms ($100) were not used but still charged so I need to notify my credit card about having them removed. Hotel was being closed for renovations as we checked out.

It’s very sad that a city with this history is so neglected with no more open museums etc. I stayed just one night, wich was by a surprise a chilli cookout for charity in the street in front of the hotel. All these local people where super friendly!!! The historic St James hotel is in need of some love and cleaning. My room had some serieus staines on the carpet, there was a moldy smell and the airco sounded like an airplane taking off next to my bed. I did not have a very good night of sleep. Girls at check in and people at the bar where friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was great. I was to late for the included breakfast, just had some coffee. I can’t complain to hard, because it was also the cheapest rate I payed for a room in my 5 week journey. Maybe just walk the famous bridge and stay in another town

I’m from Texas and that was my first experience there I love the history of it all..

I kinda knew what I was getting into as I booked it.. so no dislike

There were uncovered outlets and patches on the walls. The food was meh and I paid for breakfast but the cook called out. Staff was not noticeably friendly and I left with 3 bug bites on my arm and one above my eyebrow after sleeping in the bed.

This hotel was great. I’d stay here over any big name hotel 10 times out of 10. It was very clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the gym was nice with great equipment. The interior of the hotel was beautiful and very well maintained.
