"Historical location"

10.0

The hotel is historical and older, could use a face lift, but the beauty still shines through with the gorgeous staircase in the lobby and the outside iron railing balconies. We had a room that shared a large balcony that overlooked the Alabama River and the Edmund Pettus Bridge. The hotel is also a short walk to the bridge. They have a restaurant and bar in the hotel, there are a few places to eat in short driving distance. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. Free parking. Erica at check in was fabulous making sure we had everything we needed. Quran the bartender was great very friendly and helpful. Limited breakfast menu but prices seemed fair. Free coffee and fruit flavored water available in the lobby.

"Horrible, Do Not Waste your money"

My Husband and I traveled here from South Carolina on Wednesday night and got to this hotel Thursday morning about 3am Tired 😴. Well we got checked in and the clerk that night/morning was very pleasant. Well, as we entered in we was like ok, I love 💕 how beautiful it look in the lobby, well as we getting in the elevator, I started to panic but did not tripped! Well when we entered the room it was mold on the vents and ceiling, and the room smells moldy ! The dust that was on the ceiling fan was on the bed !! Lord it was 3 in the morning mind you, so I clean the room down with bleach and Lysol so we could at least get 3 hours of sleep 😴 to get to another hotel but we were supposed to be there a week. The clerk Thursday morning didn’t want to give us a refund back or anything, this hotel doesn’t look nothing like the online pictures we went to Montgomery and got a room there and drive back there for the wedding. Unfortunately this was a Horrible experience and not Healthy !

History in the making Every inch bespeaks the life-altering history of this hotel and its nearby environs, including the famed bridge where the march to freedom broke down barriers and continues to beam hope for a future of union an peace among us all. A spectacularly scenic spot on the river that invites charming birds and offers respite from troubles and toils. The corner unit we had with a giant balcony made for a memory-making stay.

My booked room was unavailable. I called the morning of my stay to confirm my reservation. When I arrived, I was told the hotel was all booked up. It took more than one hour for a room to be found. The registration clerk was not present at the desk for periods of time. If I left the room, I could not use the key card to get back in the room. This room was damp and not fully equipped with a shower curtain, microwave or fridge as the room. This room caused my husband to sneeze constantly and become stuffed up nasally. We were finally moved to a better room at 8 pm that had a microwave, fridge, and nicely appointed sink and separate toilet room with shower. The lighting was poor in the toilet/ shower room. This caused us to miss the start of the event we were in town for that began at 7 pm. The clerk apologized and did give us a discount on the hotel room price. Also, the breakfast which is an additional cost was very disappointing consisting only of a packaged muffin, Greek yogurt with tiny cups of granola and cranberry; and small cup of blueberries with one sliced strawberry. The listed rating of Excellent (8.2) is not true at all!!

"Best hotel in Selma"

8.0

This was our first visit to Selma, Alabama. We stayed one night to attend the Blackbelt Birding Weekend. The room was comfortable and clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The staff was exceptionally friendly and professional and there is free parking. We will stay there again.
