St James Hotel Selma Tapestry Collection by Hilton

A lovely historic building in a historic location. (Near the Edmund Pettus bridge...scene of a crucial moment in Civil Rights history.) Staff and food were excellent. The property itself looks worn and needs some love (i.e., a paint furnishings freshen up). However, even with these slight issues, I always prefer to stay in a more characterful place like the St James than a generic brand hotel.

The location downtown by the river was pleasant. I loved that it was a rehabbed vintage property. The elevator was good for my sister. Everything was so clean.

Basically nothing. Maybe the fact that we only had one night there. I would like to have explored the architecture and history of the town more!

The staff was great and hospitable. Felt really at home.

The style of the hotel and layout.

When checked in no one was at the counter waited 5 minutes before someone returned from the bar area. The carpet in the room needs cleaning.

It is a very old property on the River. Has great charm.

Booked queen river view balcony room which was not available when I arrived. Staff rather aloof.

I enjoyed our stay. I especially liked the old building and the courtyard was amazing.

Historical hotel. Enjoyed the stay. if is a shame that the area around is depressed
