Accommodation was quite scarce in Newman and found ourselves 6 km out of town at the Oasis. The accommodation here is mainly for FIFOs who work in the nearby mines. With shift work you are bound to have your sleep interrupted. Our donga was adequate for one night but at $145 a night a bit of a rip-off. Evening dinner (smorgasbord) is available at $35 a head. Jackie the manager was very helpful and accommodating.
Rooms rather small and not much space to sit outside but undercover area outside dining room would be fine i guess. Best part was meal option. Mainly setup for contractors/employees on work trip to Newman and surrounding mines.
I was so tired when I arrived. Staff very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, bed comfortable. I highly recommend a stay here. The dinner was ok, easier to eat there. To my surprise, it is about 6km outside of Newman.
We camped here the night, arrived late in the afternoon without a booking but they were only too happy to check us in and give us a site. There is also the option to get a meal if you dont feel like cooking.
Oasis is continually being developed. The facility is really appealing, the dining facilities have been revamped, the chefs and their food are magnificent. The management are helpful and friendly. It’s just a nice place to stay. No wonder it’s been fully booked.
I stayed in the workers rooms. They were clean, compact and had a good heating/cooling system. As you would expect in a miners area it can be quite noisy at 5-5.45am when they all get up and go to work. I think the premium accommodation would be much quieter.
Loved our stay, free washing machines & soap powder provided, no clothes lines BYO, Extra Bays prepared still need some grass covering red dirt. Staff great & helpful. Out of Newman but close enough to drive in to get supplies.
This is like a mining camp with campers up the back. It's a nice place and the laundry is free!! The showers and toilets are a bit small, probably because it's a demountable. but they are clean and in good nick. You can use the rec room - we watched the footy in there while playing pool. Had the room to ourselves. You can eat in the "restaurant". $30 a head for all you can eat. The food was excellent but I sure couldn't eat $30 worth. Good place to stay in this mining dominated area.
