Cache House

I have never stayed in a hostel before and wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by this facility and had a relaxing safe time. The co-ed facility is underground with no windows and only one exit but well-lit and you don't have the feeling that you're in a cave. It is a dormitory style facility with bunk beds. Each bed area includes an electric fan, adjustable lighting, a drawer with fresh linen and lockable storage area. The brightly lit communal bathroom has numerous lockable stalls with a toilet and shower in each stall . The general lounge area is fitted with comfortable seats and couches and sets the tone for your entire stay. Staff circulates through the facility on a regular basis. During my stay it was very quiet even before the "quiet time" which begins at 10pm. As I said, I was a newbie and even though I am in my middle 80's and ended up with a top bunks, I had no access problems and would definitely recommend it as a cheaper alternative to high tourist properties in the area.

The only problem I had was trying to find it! It is billed as Cache House located in building B but in reality, that address doesn't exist. After endless loops around the block, I had to ask a resident for help. Turns out (and I had never seen this explanation) that the Cache House is part of the Anvil Hotel and you have to check in at the hotel desk. The hotel is directly across the street from the tourist information center on the main state highway in and out of Jackson Hole and is easy to find. After check-in you go back outside and a couple of yards away you find an alcove and very small sign with the street address and a logo with the initials C H. Entrance to is controlled by your key card. There is no parking assigned to the facility so plan on parking on the street--if you can find space. The city has a 3 hour parking limit during the day but allows overnight parking after 6pm.

Clean, quite, im middle of town.

Staff lied to my face about there being no availabile lower bunks while there was empty lower bunks every night one of my 3 night stay and they were advertising on their own website as available. This forced my injured GF to have to painfully climb the "stairs only entrence" and ladders to enter the upper bunk. Asked for lower bunk multiple times. Upper bunk too hot. Lights flickered in bathrooms. Had no soap for one of my washed had to change stalls mid shower. No parking means playing parking tag on the street. Lock on storage broke during rhe stay.Theres more but you get the picture by the size difference between the likes and dont like section.

Very clean and quiet. Located in a perfect spot in downtown Jackson.

No microwave or fridge which meant you always had to eat out.

Great location.

No parking lot. But we managed to find overnight spots on the street
