Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Kansas City Shawnee

Interesting. We arrived around 4:00 in the afternoon and waiting for over 45 min to be checked in but NOBODY ever came!! We called the hotel number and looked all around the hotel, including outside, but not one single employee was found. We eventually had to leave to get to a softball game. There were about 20 other guests looking so someone as well. Needless to say, we will never return.

Literally nobody was working when I got here.

I had a lady check me in that was brand new and no one around to help her. She was having a hard time checking me in because I had prepaid thru expedia. Also, there was no caffeinated coffee in the room or at breakfast. Need more staff.

The bed was comfortable. The room was clean and updated with a modern look. The hot breakfast was good! The smart TV was nice. We were able to use our Netflix account.

The shower had low water pressure. The pool area didn’t have working lights to light the room. We swam at night with our 3 year old with only a color changing light within the pool. We were happy that he was able to swim but really it wasn’t too safe. The front desk personnel shared that an electrician had been in to work on the situation. There was no ice in the building due to ice machines being out of ice. Teams were filling coolers and there was not any left for us to use personally.

This is one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in. Check in was easy, so that was a positive. The elevator is very sketchy, shakes and makes grinding noises. And moves VERY slow. Our room looked decent. A couple pillows had stains on them. Random toiletries(2 different conditioners) were the only bottled options. Shampoo, conditioner(empty) and body wash provided in the shower. Only saw 2 staff ever. The public women's bathroom was locked bc the lock didn't function correctly. The men's bathroom had poop in it and wouldn't flush down, when staff was their response was "that's not my job". So one of our friends actually ended up cleaning it so there was a usable bathroom by the pool. The pool is the size of a large hot tub, very tiny. And the chlorine was so bad it burnt your eyes and made asthma flare up. The breakfast they rave about in their description... NON EXISTENT! By 7:30-8am there was nothing but bagels and yogurt available. And no coffee. We came with a baseball team of hungry boys and were VERY disappointed. When you spend almost $200 a night on memorial day weekend we expect at least a hot breakfast. When asked if anything more was being made we were told "what's out there is out there". If we weren't required to stay as the same place as our team we would've immediately gone somewhere else. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Pool was not the greatest. Not picked up, no pool towels available, too much chlorine in pool and it was so hot and humid in there. Bathroom could also be cleaned better in room. Overall, room was clean and comfortable. Front desk was friendly.
