we had a good size room over looking the river, and the shared kitchen was very much appreciated to store and prepare food and make tea and coffee.

great location but the road is very noisy, especially in the early hours. Also the front door was double locked and required the key to get out of the building

The house and room is very nicely designed and very clean. It has a home-like feeling to it. There is all necessary equipment. Bed was comfortable. Location is very nice - at the river, beautiful view, practical for runners who want to go run alongside the river. It's close to the centre, supermarket is approx. 2 minutes of walk.

The street on front of the house is noisy and for sensitive sleepers like me it could be a problem - but a pair of earplugs helps :)

When I got there I had to wait 2 hours to get in and then I was accused of stealing creams from the bathroom! The room was dirty too. It’s a pity because the place was ok but the management was not.

Location next to the river opens a good view, polite owner and staff. Cute decoration around the hotel and room size is nice. Good access to the beaches by bus.

The first thing that struck me was the damp smell. Fragrances didn't help. The shower over the bath didn't work properly. For 6 nights of stay, no one took the garbage from the room or from the common kitchen. The gaps in the windows and doors are so large that you can clearly hear every rustle in the hotel and beyond. The ringing of the church bells every hour from early morning and the noise from the renovations were also not the most pleasant bonus. I dont recommend this place for a long stay definitely, since you will not be able to sleep peacefully. Perhaps this option is suitable for a short-term stop. Getting to the metro was also not very convenient. I didn't enjoy my stay much unfortunately

The location was amazing right by the river with a grocery store five minutes away, as well as the sea and most of Porto's attractions reachable on foot in half an hour to an hour. There was great attention to detail with the interior design and design enthusiasts will have a fantastic time looking at all the interesting pieces. There is a community kitchen with a big fridge to store drinks and food which we mostly used to make coffee/tea in the morning. However, it would be equipped to cook some meals. Marlene, the host, and her housekeeper were extremely kind and accommodating regarding our check-in and check-out times. The communication with her worked great. All in all, our stay at Marlene's guest house was a pleasure and made our exploration of Porto such a joy.

The things that could be improved on are few and a bit knitpicky. Some higher quality toilet paper would add comfort. In our room, the toilet and shower were not in seperate rooms but behind a wall which may be a problem for some people during longer stays. However, I would definitely book again.

Has character. Pretty eclectic decor.

No air-conditioning although it did get cooler in the evenings… if you open the balcony door. I hated that I had to take care of that makeshift door on the stairway between the first floor and the second floor. Th e lock was pretty challenging to do and undo for an old man like me. If really necessary. It should have been an easier lock to access.mthe shower door leaked to the outside so that limited how strong I could set the shower spray; and called for extra time and effort to dry the wood floor outside after showering, lest it causes damage.

The location is very close to the centre and there is a bus stop nearby, the room is quite big with the view to the river.

Excellent location for exploring Porto. Comfortable room, many dining options nearby.
