Dartmoor Barn on North Hessary Tor

What an amazing cottage and location.

This place is amazing. It was in a great location - feeling remote (so quiet, right on the moors) but a quick drive to town and the nearest pub/restaurant is walkable. It was clean, light and roomy. Thoughtful touches, and the hosts were always available. Kitchen had loads of utensils, bathroom was lovely, bed was very comfortable. Our dog loved the garden and meadow. We didn't want to leave!

Sofas are practical given dogs stay, but not super comfortable for long periods of sitting in the evenings. But everything else made up for it.

The location is simply spectacular. The barn was clean, comfortable and well equipped. EV charging facility was also appreciated.

Wonderful location, 20km walk available just off the drive way! It's the only house for 10km radius so you're really in the middle no where. We were completely left alone too, although we did bump into the owners and they were lovely. Its so unbelievably quiet, even with kids camping at the quarry nearby. Views out the property are lovely. Dishwasher/washing machine available, ideal for longer stays. We wish we could have stayed longer but it was already booked up for months! If you like a good steak, you must eat at the Dartmoor Inn, Merrivale. It was exceptional and only a 5 minute drive away.

Blue light in the hallway is obnoxiously bright. Sofas are small and uncomfortable but I think they're really designed to be easily cleaned if you bring a dog. Bed is very soft, not our cup of tea but that may be just preference. Given the closest shop is 20 minute drive, some ground coffee and other small bits wouldn't have gone a miss. There is nothing offered apart from a few instant coffee sachets. Make sure you bring everything you need.

the general layout was good, all amenities were provided for a comfortable stay.

Great location, great communication from the host before and during our stay. Everything was spotlessly clean and the piano was an unexpected very pleasant surprise. Kitchen has everything you need.

Really comfortable and in a great location.

I chose this property as it had a wood burning fire. But when I arrived it had been replaced with an electric one. I was very disappointed as this was a feature I really wanted and was not informed they had done this.
