Challis Roadhouse

Easy access, comfortable beds, pet friendly. Air conditioning and bathroom lights didn’t work!

Miserable experience. Room 14 air conditioner was not putting out cold air. You check in at the bar. After taking forever to check in because the bar/restaurant was super busy and having to go back and then call because of incorrect wifi login, we were pretty frustrated. We didnt notice the problem with the air conditioner until after showering so at that point decided to stick it out. They would have been too busy to deal with our issue. Opened windows which didn't really help until middle of the night. This is a happening place which is great but got annoying when we went to bed. Beds were comfy and place was clean.

The room was comfy and AC worked great. Not so great was the WiFi and TV. WiFi didn't work most of the time, but we were told that's how it is in Challis. TV had lots of channels, but most didn't work. With the weather so hot during our stay it would have been nice to relax with a movie or something other than Sponge Bob! (The staff, especially Kris, did their best to accommodate our wishes as far as internet and TV). Drinks and food were good. Burgers for supper one night were very tasty. Very friendly staff. Visiting Challis was an adventure!

The young man who worked in the bar AND got us checked in was very nice, accommodating, and helpful. There was also a large park-like yard between the roadhouse and the highway with picnic tables and trees where we could walk our dog.

Pros: towels were newer and clean, staff in the bar were friendly, air conditioner worked but was very loud Cons: room smelled of smoke and wet dog covered by air freshener, carpet was very disgusting, bed was uncomfortable There were not many choices available in Challis. I will not stay here again if I'm back in the area. My husband and I were not comfortable here in regards to the room or the general environment.

This is a small town not many places to chose from. The room was clean and the bed was awesome. You had to go to the bar to check in. The Wfi didn’t work even after I got help to get connected. The room was very out dated. The shower you couldn’t get the water regulated it was ether cold or hot. They had a very small tv that was a 10” on the wall and we ended not watching it because it was to small to see anything. They really could up grade there tv to at lest a 32” they don’t cost much these days. If you are in a pinch and need a place to stay for one day it is fine. If not keep going until you find a better place

No staff was available to check us into our room. Getting this reservation was an expensive mess with no place to sleep.
