Casa de la Asunción

The location was terrific right off the Zocalo. The room was well appointed. Violet at the front desk was incredibly helpful. We would highly recommend this place if you want something central.

Breathtaking historic building in the center of Oaxaca only steps to the Zocolo. The rooms were spacious, modern and extremely clean. Violeta was incredibly warm, helpful and communicative.

The room was large, new and quite clean, and had a very modern bathroom.

For a colonial city and a colonial building, this hotel was notably absent of charm (easy to get in Oaxaca). It had no outdoor seating, no courtyard seating, no rooftop seating (common also in Oaxaca) and no food amenities. Furthermore, it was half a block from the cathedral plaza which hosts, every night until late at night, very loud street performances which echo through the hotel. The upper level of the hotel, where all the rooms are located, is also shared with a fluorescent-lit beauty salon which does not add to the charm of the place.

Front room too noisy

The location was great very central. It is very busy and loud on that street, but once in your room, you can't hear much. Just don't get a room with a balcony to the street. Very clean and spacious. Lots of taxis park right across the street so easy to get transportation, although you don't need it. Oaxaca is a walking place. We only used it to take us to the airport. Would of liked to have a place with food or at least breakfast. The only bad thing was the bed was not comfortable at all.

The mattress was not comfortable at all.

The location was great. The bed was big.

The window looked into a hair salon so we had to keep the window closed and the hot water took about 10 min to get hot.

Great location next to central square. New rooms, well organized and very clean. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The hotel is very small (seven rooms) and not manned after hours (although the staff was available and attentive after hours via WhatsApp.) This was fine for me but might be a consideration for a higher needs quest.

Great location. Violeta was wonderful and helped us with taxis, private transportation to area sight and restaurant recommendations.

The hotel is small and is very quiet. This may not be festive enough for some younger quests. Each room is given bottled water to use with the coffee makers. You need to go to a store to buy liters of water as you can’t drink the tap water. Although is not expensive to do this it is a bit of a hassle. You also need to purchase milk as no creamer is provided with the coffee maker.
