Dorchester House

The accommodation was very well placed for walking into town and for eating out each evening. My single room was on the first floor and was very warm and comfortable. The window faced the street, but it was extremely quiet, with no nighttime traffic noise. Lorraine was very friendly, remembered my name and served up a filling, tasty breakfast.

The only drawback, not just for me, but also for guests in the neighbouring rooms, was that my bathroom was along the corridor and I was afraid of disturbing them during my nighttime visits. However, the bathroom was very spacious with a large shower cubicle and a nice hot powerful shower. There was a good sized wardrobe, so the bathroom doubled as a dressing room too. Lorraine messaged me before my arrival to say it was a separate bathroom and not en suite.

It’s clean, spacious enough for a family of four. Lovely decorated, has everything we need. Breakfast is delicious, and I love their book collection

I've recently returned from a fantastic 4 night stay at The Dorchester, both Lorraine & Simon were friendly and welcoming hosts. The guest house was immaculate and located in a quiet street only a very short walk into Keswick town centre. I'm looking forward to returning and staying there again.

Nothing to dislike

The property is super close to the town centre, the room was immaculate and comfy for us both. They even went above and beyond with the little makeup remover kits which included a face cloth, cotton pads and cotton buds. Just this little things you often forget to bring with you. The breakfast choices were great and having tried both the full English and overnight oats, I’m not sure which was better! It was great having fresh fruit as a help yourself option as well. Lorraine was super friendly and kind. She made sure to check with us if we needed any extra top ups for the drinks in our room and even left us some lovely cake one of the days we stayed. Thank you

Nothing, it was perfect.

We had the best sleeps in these beds!!!! The breeze through the big windows was a relief. The room was perfect for myself and 2 boys, spacious and everything we needed!!! Breakfast was delicious, the Yorkshire tea brewed in a pot was perfect. Lorraine and Simon are lovely hosts, I would definitely recommend the guest house to my friends.

Our room was bigger than we expected and our beds were very comfortable. It was lovely to arrive to a delicious afternoon tea cake to enjoy in our room. The breakfast was delicious. Tasty locally sourced bacon and sausages, all cooked to perfection. The location is super close to town and about 45 minutes walk to Castlerigg Stones. Highly recommend staying here, Lorraine has so much local knowledge too!

Lorraine and Simon were friendly welcoming hosts. Lots of tourist information provided arou d the house. Our room had an abundance of power points and charhing ports. Lorraines friendly personality made the breakfast room a chatty and friendly environment. Excellent variety of hot and cold breakfast choices.
