"Beautiful views, great location and onsen, but very strict/stuffy environment"

Great location, beautiful views, and wonderful communal and personal onsen. The medicinal tea bar was wonderful as well.

The rules of this hotel are very strict/stuffy and inhospitable. There was no place to sit before check in. I also shared in advance that I had a meeting that lasted 30 minutes after check out and they charged me 3300 (and kept calling to make sure I came down to pay while the meeting was in progress rather than waiting til it was over). This made it hard to lead my important meeting. Still as someone from the US I understand that much of this could be cross cultural so I would give them a try again.

"Excellent stay with very spacious rooms and traditional dinner and breakfast!"

The stay exceeded my expectations quite highly. Even before the stay, the staff was very accommodating and communicative. Due to a typhoon, I had to change travel plans by a day, and they were very flexible and understanding about it. The access to the hotel does entail a somewhat steep climb, but because of the way Gora is structured, I think that is inevitable. The room was very spacious, the bathroom was also well sized. It also had a nice balcony. My room was on the 2nd Floor, so quite level with the hill at the back, but I can imagine it is even nicer if you are further up. The highlight for me was the dinner and breakfast. These are somewhat pricey extras but fully worth it. The dinner especially is quite an experience, with multiple courses of very high quality meals. I would happily come back if I get the chance to come to Hakone again.

"Entspannung und Kulinarik"

Das Hotel ist bequem zu Fuß erreichbar (eine Station mit der Standseilbahn vom Bahnhof Gora und dann annähernd eben auch mit Gepäck gut machbar), sehr große Zimmer, außergewöhnliche Teebar, Onsen, sehr gutes Abendessen mit Getränken/Alkohol incl. und sehr gutes Frühstück, problemloser Check-in an der Rezeption, Gepäckaufbewahrung.
