The Joseph, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Nashville

Amazing staff! Special shout out to Davionta and Drake with valet and Angie at the restaurant. This will be our only hotel we ever use while in Nashville. Five stars!!

Darionta Drake was so helpful and welcoming. He is an incredible representative of this property!!! We loved the hotel. Very comfortable and beautiful decor. The restaurant is great. More than anything, the staff is superb.

Hotel was excellent, rooms were spacious and very clean. The valet, Drake and Darionta were extremely nice, professional, and accommodating.

Overall, a good stay at the Joseph. The staff are the kindest people and genuinely helpful. The hotel was sold out while I was there so everything was very busy. Location is great. Walking distance to many attractions and restaurants, but away from the chaos of Broadway. Pool is lovely. Food and drinks were tasty. Definitely not a party scene (which was much appreciated). If you are in a larger group, treat yourself and rent a cabana. Note: cabanas include tables and couches but no loungers. The pool staff were delightful. Rooms are modern and well maintained. The stay was certainly not perfect and I encountered a few issues: - One of my party’s rooms was not ready until after 6 even though official check-in time is 4 PM. - Housekeeping missed cleaning my room one day. - No tea in the room and no complimentary coffee/tea station in the lobby (which is usually standard for luxury hotels). - House car is permanently out of commission. Luckily the hotel’s service recovery was very good in addressing these issues. Despite these hiccups, I would say that the Joseph is one of the best hotels in Nashville and I would stay here again.

I was really stoked about staying here prior to my visit, and my Bonvoy NUA cleared for my one night stay, so I was upgraded to a basic suite. Valet was prompt and my Amex FHR benefits were fully explained during the check in process. The lobby is fairly small with some seating and next to it is a bar and then the fine dining restaurant, all in an open concept. Next to the elevators there was a very sparsely stocked gift shop. I asked if there were any hotel branded items for sale and the Joseph coffee mugs were the only item available. My suite was nice, although the furnishings (carpet, furniture) were mostly darker colors. I had a nice view of downtown in both the living and the bedroom areas. There was a mini-bar complete with a small fridge stocked with items for sale. The bathroom was great, with a soaking tub and separate shower in the wet room. The Byredo toiletries smelled great. I ordered room service (done on an iPad) for both dinner and breakfast the next morning. While delivery was pretty quick, the food was very average. The burger was good but the accompanying French fries were straight out of a bag and inedible. The omelette I had for breakfast contained ham in very large pieces that was so salty I couldn’t eat it. I ordered ice at the same time I ordered breakfast and while the breakfast came quickly, the ice took forever, and subsequently I had nothing to drink in order to eat the breakfast. By the time the ice came it was cold. Now for the main reason for not giving a five star rating: the bed. I love staying in upscale properties and usually my favorite reason is for the heavenly beds that 5 star hotels almost always offer. The bed was pretty firm and didn’t appear to have any sort of padding or topper that most luxury hotel beds usually have. It wasn’t uncomfortable per se, just very average like you’d find at any 3 star hotel. I was really disappointed. Service wise the hotel was great. Everyone was uber friendly and professional. Nashville has seen an explosion of 4.5 and 5 star hotels opening in the past 10 years, and now even has a Four Seasons and rumored to be getting an EDITION. With that in mind, I might try one of the other options on my next visit.
