Hermitage Castelo - Casa Saint Jorge

We had such a wonderful stay at the Hermitage Castelo. The staff went above and beyond to assist with advice, transfer and making it an easy and pleasant stay. The location was excellent, off the busy streets, quiet at night and close to attractions. The cafe Ludo’s next door was also a highlight. Great coffee and breakfast. The bus service 737 was very easy to use. I purchased a 48hr public transport pass.

This is a beautiful property - the apartment itself is so nice and comfortable and the area it is in is beautiful as well. It’s an easy walk around all of Alfama and the neighborhoods around it. You can also walk to the actual Castle in a couple minutes. It’s awesome because you can keep an eye on the crowds going into the castle and go when there’s no line.

A wonderful hotel located right within the walls of a castle. The castle sits on a hilltop, so be prepared for a bit of uphill walking — but it’s absolutely worth it. Two friendly peacocks roam freely around the grounds, adding to the charm of the setting. We booked a room with a private terrace, which was a real highlight. There are plenty of nearby spots offering pastries, ice cream, and cocktails, yet the atmosphere remained peaceful, private and quiet throughout our stay. Having breakfast on our own terrace was a delight. The bathroom and shower were excellent, and the bed was very comfortable. There was also a dehumidifier installed in the room, which helped reduce moisture in the air — a thoughtful touch that made the stay even more comfortable. Wifi was very good.

None, really. Perhaps just the absence of a TV — though we didn’t miss it much.

We just finished our stay at Hermitage and we are sad to leave! The property, it's location and Sónia's amazing service were nothing less than stellar. Sure you gotta climb up a cobblestone hill every day, but you also get to walk through the walls of a castle to get there. It's a very medieval kinda vibe there with it's narrow winding walking paths and it's glowing yellow lamps to guide your way at night. Discovering hidden cafes and lively squares added to each day's adventures.

Right up a hill which has a 737 bus service which they don’t tell you about!

The property is so stylish and importantly, the bed is very comfortable with luxurious linen. Everything is thoughtfully provided and almost brand new. The location is excellent; quiet with beautiful views and the cafe below has a delicious menu-a real bonus!
