La tranquillité et les repas

We verbleven drie nachten bij Gableview Forest Inn. De gastvrijheid en vriendelijkheid van Elizabeth en Santoshi waren geweldig. De herberg is erg schattig en knus en het voelde een beetje als thuis. We werden vriendelijk verwelkomd en Elizabeth verzorgde ons niet alleen met fantastische tips en itineraries om de omgeving te verkennen maar bood ons ook elke ochtend een rit naar het stadscentrum. Het onsen bad in de herberg is ook heerlijk. De temperatuur van het water was perfect en het is een prachtige ervaring om buiten te zitten in een warm badje terwijl de wind door de bomen waait of de regen op het dakje druppelt.

De locatie van de herberg is in die zin een uitdaging als dat je echt midden in het bos zit en dus niet vlakbij het stadscentrum en uitgaansgelegenheden. Je kan niet zomaar makkelijk de bus pakken om nog even weg te gaan. Hiervoor heb je wel een auto nodig. Elizabeth organiseerde elke ochtend een rit naar het centrum voor de gasten waardoor je dit nadeel niet echt voelt. Vanuit het centrum kom je vervolgens overal met de bus en terug kan je voor weinig geld en makkelijk een taxi pakken.

Les hôtes, le diner, lits confortables, l'emplacement "nature", la musique dans la salle "commune"! J'ai particulièrement apprécié le fait d'avoir été raccompagné le lendemain à la gare

La déco et certains équipements sont un peu rustiques (salle de bain, onsen) Propreté à revoir dans certains endroits (tapis par exemple)

We had an amazing stay at Gableview Forest Inn. The room was big, cozy and very well furnished. We decided to opt for breakfast - no regrets, it was delicious and the portions were generous. The atmosphere in the Inn surrounded by trees is great, and the onsen was very enjoyable. The hosts were lovely and helpful, they shared many great recommendations and drove us to the station.

It was all fantastic, just be aware of two things so you don't get caught by surprise. : 1) the Inn is +- 3km from the station and there are parts along the road without pavements (the taxi from the station was only 1500 yen though). 2) You need to book dinner at least one week in advance which we forgot to do, but there's also a very good Chinese restaurant 600m away.

The lodge is a large somewhat old but beautiful home. The co-owner of the lodge was incredibly helpful. She provided a large amount of information on various activities we could take part in and on three occasions she drove us about 3 miles from the lodge location to the center of Nikko where the trains and buses are located. The other co-owner made great breakfasts in the morning for a very reasonable price. The next time we are in Nikko we will attempt to stay there.

A lovely home to rest and rejuvenate after a day of exploring Nikko Center. The dinner is like private dining where the chef prepares every dish with care and skill. The mushroom soup and unagi is out of this world. The combination of western and Japanese dishes go so well together. Thank you Satoshi for making our best meal in Nikko.and Liz for your warmth and personal welcome.

Tres bons sejours Des hotes tres accueillants

Nos ha encantado, es un sitio único! Elizabeth y su marido son excelentes anfitriones y su casa es una maravilla. Eramos 3 y nos dieron una habitación duplex con baño privado. La limpieza impecable, camas y almohadas muy cómodas y la decoración de la casa es preciosa, llena de detalles. El onsen es un plus, con horario reservado exclusivo para poder disfrutarlo con total privacidad. Cenamos y desayunamos allí y la comida es un 10! Elizabeth se tomó el tiempo para proporcionarnos información muy detallada para nuestra ruta del día siguiente. La casa está en el bosque (a 5 min en taxi del centro) y precisamente es parte de su encanto. En la mañana los anfitriones muy amablemente nos bajaron a la estación de autobuses. Creemos que tanto la comida como la casa fusionan muy bien la mezcla oriental/ occidental de sus propietarios ;-). Volveríamos sin duda y lo recomendaremos a nuestos amigos.

Very welcoming and great food. Elizabeth drove us to town 3 times. Nice dinner setting and breakfast. A quiet and verdant surrounding. A warm onsen after a long day out.

It’s a little outdated in terms of the room but it did not matter, there is everything you need. Airco, heaters, and comfortable matrasses
