The staff, the food at both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Parking is just across a quiet road. Our room however left us literally cold. Old building, 'wavy' floors, single glazed casement windows facing the prevailing - brisk - wind and an outside temperature of close to freezing. Then the heating gets switched off for the night ! Considering that this was the most expensive 'one nighter' on our recent trip, we were less than satisfied.

Excellent location on the Pennine Way. Lovely, helpful staff, big spacious, light, warm room and a deep bath which was just what the doctor ordered. Tasty dinners, decent breakfasts. And kind enough to provide us with a towel for our muddy dog.

If I was to be really picky I'd ask for Heinz baked beans in my full veggie breakfast and my hash brown was a little undercooked. Otherwise everything delightful!

Friendly helpful staff. Good beer. Restaurant is overrated in advert, but does good wholesome pub food.

Incredibly temperamental showers, with only a tiny range between freezing and scalding. Also hot and cold are reversed. Not been in bad showers like that for 20+years, and certainly not in a hotel.... Also thin single glazing by a noisy road. More than twice the price of the previous night's stay on this trip, and less than half as good!
