Hotel El Capitan

Liked the lobby decor. Saw such gorgeous pix online, so i thought the rooms would be as unique as the lobby, but the rooms seemed a little tight, and they were pretty plain.

Beautiful historic hotel in Van Horn, Texas. The courtyard in the front of the hotel and the lobby are charming. I upgraded to the King Room with a Courtyard, but I would opt for a regular room instead next time. The King Room with Courtyard was very small and we didn't use the courtyard in the room, although the bed was very comfortable. The on-site restaurant was good and there was live music when we were there on Sunday. Breakfast was included and was very good. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This was our third stay at El Capitan and once again it was perfect: beautifully landscaped grounds and courtyard, welcoming front desk, comfortable room, restaurant and bar on site, delicious complimentary breakfast, and highest standard of cleanliness throughout. It is quite obvious that the entire team has embraced the owners’ vision for a superior guest experience.

This is a beautiful hotel with lots of history. As a bonus, the beds are super comfortable. If you don’t want to camp but you want to see Guadalupe Mountains National Park, this is a great place to stay.

Van Horn has a limited selection of restaurants.
