Nice room and good food

The toilet smelt and the smell did not go away. I wondered if it had t been used for a while.

Truly amazing place with very accommodating staff - we hit an unexpected diversion that added almost an hour towards our journey. The staff was very understanding of the situation and waited for our arrival despite the pub being closed. The room itself was amazing, with one of the comfiest bed we slept on away from home. The walk-in shower was very convenient with the cherry on top being the cosmetics provided.

The majority of the staff were friendly and efficient - couldn't do enough to help.

The food the first night was cold. We had eaten here a couple of years ago and the food was excellent so a little disappointed.

All in all, a disappointing stay (room 5). There was a terrible sewerage smell coming from the bathroom throughout the stay (also very apparent along the corridor) which really affected our sleep and stay. The bedroom had 2 tiny velux windows, the larger of which didn't open, and the room felt very claustrophic with no fresh air, as the skylight closes automatically when it rains. Although there is a fan in the room, it felt airless, plus the terrible smell! The hotel's website advertises these rooms as ones for stargazers, but you'd have to have a pretty flexible neck to crane from the bed! I think if you booked the room with the window, you might have a different experience, we walked past this room as it was being cleaned and it did look very nice, but we just felt quite disappointed.
