Hotel Pocillos Playa, solo Adultos

Big room... Plenty of space and a really good area to get ready. Quiet hotel in a residential area but still close to bars and restaurants in Los Pocillos and Mattagorda. Puerto del Carmen is only a 20 min walk. Jorge (the barman) was great! Always happy and very efficient. Aida (as everybody highlights) is a huge asset to that hotel. She works so hard and is excellent at her job.

Small pool area. Not enough sunbeds and people leaving towels on them reserved all day. Only X1 bar inside the hotel. Long queues at night to get drinks and often throughout the day the bar was unattended!! Don't bother with premium! It really isn't worth it. You still have to come up to the main bar for drinks. No separate bar area in the premium sunbathing area!!! The food was very repetitive in our opinion. Many other guests said the same. Also not hot so thankfully there was a microwave to heat the food up. Previous reviews have mentioned clattering of plates and cutlery and we agree. It was like a school canteen! Staff were not very attentive when approached with an issue. Also used glasses were left on the tables in the smoking area. Dirty tables and certainly not appealing to sit and have a drink. Plastic glasses by the pool in an evening is frustrating. However some guests were sat by the pool in the evening with glasses. This was reported to reception. To conclude this hotel could be so much better and for the price it's definitely not value for money. We will not be returning and know there is far better around for the same money.

We kindly got upgraded to a pool view room because it was my boyfriend’s birthday.

It didn’t bother us too much but we were a couple in our mid twenties and we were the youngest by about 35 years…I would say most people were in 60 & 70’s. We got a few stares as if we were aliens! So if you want to be around people your age I wouldn’t book here unless you’re 55+. The hotel was small but nice and the food & drinks were good for the price. We didn’t have problems with getting sunbeds but it was busy on our first day and we felt like everyone was sat on eachother so can imagine in the summer it is worse. Most staff were nice except one very grumpy women at breakfast…TOP TIP: don’t ask the blonde lady where the sauces are unless you want shouted at first thing in the morning!!! Be warned the location isn’t as good as the reviews say. We’re young and love walking but if you’re not comfortable walking 45 minutes to get to the main area then be ready to get lots of taxis. There’s not much around the hotel at all. We only stayed for a long weekend and I wouldn’t recommend any longer than that.

Lovely location, quiet but fairly central, lovely pool area and communal areas, all staff friendly, evening entertainment great fun and very inclusive, special thanks to Aizia ( not sure about the spelling) she was a breath of fresh air. Food excellent, would definitely like to return.

The staff. Special thanks to Sofia, who had the patience to look for thousands of solutions when the electronic lock of my room was out of battery. Also Carmen and Valentina were very attentive and efficient, when ordering the picnic everyday.

Who designed the showers? Without a door everything gets messy and the toilet gets wet.
