Hôtel Cardinal

We liked the area, room was just ok. Good for walking around the old town

Hotel Cardinal was a perfect hotel for us. It is lovingly cared for by the owner who does the cleaning herself. The rooms are very nicely appointed and most have a direct view of the Rouen Cathedrale that cannot be beat. Breakfast offers a variety of fresh foods in a pretty little room with lovely stained glass windows. If we are ever in Rouen we would ONLY stay here!

Great location, small, but typical for a European standard room size, towels were heavily worn. No safe in the room.

Nice hotel, right next the cathedral and rue de l’Horloge

We paid extra for an upgraded room, but the room we had was extremely small, barely room to walk around the bed. The room was hot and as there was no airconditioning we had to keep the window open all night which meant it was very noisy due to the partying going on until about 3 am and the streetcleaners. The facilities were basic, not even a rubbish bin anywhere in the bedroom or bathroom. The cups in the bathroom were dirty with toothpaste residue from previous guests. The mirror had a chunk missing leaving a sharp edge right by the handle for the taps. The towels were dirty so we left them on the floor for housekeep to replace, as instructed. Housekeeping came and just hung up the towels so then we had damp and dirty towels for morning. There was no-one at reception most of the time and no way to contact them, you just let yourself in with a PIN code for the main entrance. Overall a disappointing and expensive stay with very little sleep.

Helt fint hotell. Veldig sentralt.

A good location right opposite the cathedral and next to a few good cafe bars. No car parking on site but there is an underground carpark within 5 mins walk. At 11pm there is a lightship on the outside walls of the cathedral - worth watching. Breakfast at the hotel though was expensive for what we got.

On arrival at 2 PM, the front doors were locked and we had to call an emergency number to get somebody to open. The rooms are exceedingly small and no decor. We had to call to ask for basics like a blanket for the bed, pillows, shampoo. The staff is tiny, and seem to be stretched too thin, but very pleasant when you could find them. This was our first night after an overnight flight, and we did not know that there would be a loud sound and light projection on the cathedral wall directly across the square. Having said all that, did we hate it? No, not really, but wouldn’t really want to stay there again.
