Hilton Grand Vacations Club Maui Bay Villas

I am writing this review with deep disappointment and concern. During our recent stay at the Hilton Hotel in Maui, my husband was seriously injured when a barbecue grill exploded on the property. This was a terrifying and traumatic experience that no guest should ever have to endure. What makes this situation even worse is the complete lack of response or accountability from hotel management. Despite multiple attempts to reach out — in person and through follow-up messages — we have not received any communication, apology, or concern from the Hilton staff other then a post-it with a bogus phone number for their liability insurance. The phone number is not in service, there has been crickets from them ever since. Safety should always be a top priority at a resort of this caliber, yet the condition of the grill and the hotel’s inaction afterward raise major questions about maintenance standards and guest care. We are deeply shaken by this incident and extremely disappointed by how it has been handled. Until this matter is acknowledged and properly addressed, I cannot in good conscience recommend this property to anyone.

This property was great. We had a two bedroom ocean view villa in building 4 which was perfect for our needs. The room was nicely appointed and appeared to be newly renovated. We received daily phone calls trying to get us to attend a 90 minute timeshare sales pitch. The calls started a few days prior to our arrival and became annoying as we were out sightseeing on our first visit to Hawaii. At check in they talked to me about it and I told them that I only had 3 days left in my vacation and was not interested. We had a 5PM return flight home and a 10 AM check out. After we had checked out the baggage staff inform me that I could have requested access to the pool and shower facilities until we were ready to head to the airport. As a Hilton Honors member I feel like the front desk should have made me aware of this perk and not the baggage handlers as I was leaving.

⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ 3 out of 5 stars — “Nice place, but not quite the relaxing Maui escape I hoped for.” Hilton Grand Vacations Club Maui Bay Villas is a beautiful property overall, with a great room design and high-quality furnishings that make you feel like you’re staying somewhere special. The suite layout is modern, comfortable, and well-equipped — definitely one of the highlights of the stay. That said, the experience as a whole felt just okay. The traffic around the area was rough — at times it honestly felt like California, both in the congestion and the aggressive driving. It took the charm out of what should’ve been a peaceful island vibe. When it came to food, every spot we tried was decent but nothing memorable. It wasn’t bad, just not impressive — very middle-of-the-road. The scenery, though, is gorgeous. The ocean views and sunsets really do remind you why people love Maui, and the grounds themselves are beautifully maintained. One disappointing part was that I tried to get a late check-out, but even during what’s supposed to be the off-season, the hotel was so busy they couldn’t accommodate it. Understandable, but still frustrating after paying resort-level prices. All in all, a visually stunning resort with great rooms and scenery, but weighed down by traffic headaches, average dining, and limited flexibility. I’d call it a solid “good but not great” stay.

Quiet and conveniently located to get to the various island sights. Friendly staff and good parking. Clean accommodations. Great for family vacation.

We stayed here before the Tsunami and it was great, but we were able to book our room the night of the Tsunami after our flight was cancelled and we paid for the Penthouse suite. The night had been stressful and we saw them sell our room to the guy right in front of us for even more than we booked it for. I understand the stress and was glad we had somewhere to sleep but it was frustrating to see that we paid for more than we got. I wanted to help all the displaced people. The facility is pretty.

Nice property, close to the ocean, great pools and loved our hotel room. Stayed in a two bedroom / 2 bath. Close drive to Wailea.
