Great pool area, updated big rooms.

It was okay

The resort is beautiful. The pool is great, with a great water slide for the kids. The pool bar is big and the bartenders were pleasant and efficient and the drinks were good. The rooms were new well furnished and had a great kitchen. The rooms were adequate size but not overly spacious. The drawbacks were the beach access though not far was across the busy highway and access to the restaurant and beach was not ADA friendly. One day the only working hot tub was not heating. A plus was washer and dryer in the room.

Beautiful property. They are doing construction to expand the property but the noise was never a disturbance to us as we were at the pool or out and about on the island during the day. Housekeepers and front desk staff were responsive to any needs. No complaints. Will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed this for a family vacation. Accommodations are nicely done and new. Of course, you need a car and stock up at Safeway. Then you can enjoy the wonders of Maui at your own pace. Helicopter ride, observatory, beaches, hikes, etc. We had a blast. There was a fake tsunami warning which just made it more fun. We scrambled to the observatory at 10k feet only to find the biggest "tsunami" wave was 4ft high. There is some work still being done on new buildings. That was a bit noisy but wasn't that bad. There are negative reviews about the "wild" chickens, chicks and roosters roaming around. We liked them a lot. They didn't bother us at all 😀🐓🐓 Yes, there is an occasional cock-a-doodle-doo, but that added fun to the experience. Not sure why some people get so upset with them 😀 Most guests enjoy them and even feed them bread. Kids enjoy them too.

Our second visit to HGV Maui. Both times our room was in a fabulous location. The first time our room was high above the pool complex (which is delightful), this time in a corner at the South Kihei road. Both are fantastic. Need anything, a call to the front desk gets it delivered quickly. Need a ride from the parking lot? Shuttles are easy to get. On the other hand, parking is poorly designed. As more buildings are added it will only be worse. The bar hours are too short, the on-site snack shop hours are too short as well. Still, how can one really be upset when the ocean is within 50 yards of the gate, plentiful dining options are a short drive away and the staff is wonderful? We had an issue with the Hilton website our last day but the Concierge staff stepped in to help and all was well.

We have nothing but positive things to say following our recent stay at the Maui Bay Villas. We arrived at the property around 11am due to our flight times. We were checked in and given pool cards and towel cards to use until our room was ready. At 1:30 we received a text that our room was ready. We let the bellhop know that we had a room and they delivered our bags and groceries to the room, even putting our cold groceries into the fridge for us! We stayed as a family of 4, 2 adults 2 children, in a 2 bedroom resort view villa. The accommodations were excellent. The kitchen was well equipped with the basics of what we needed. There wasn’t any BBQ tools which was a little unfortunate but we were able to use the standard kitchen utensils when we used the grill. There was ample parking throughout the property. We were assigned building 9 which was close to the pool, lobby and other amenities. The only thing we found odd about the building was that there is only one elevator and it was on the opposite side of the building from the area where the pool was. As we were only on the 2nd floor we just utilized the stairs more often than not. It was not an issue for us but if you have limited mobility prefer the elevator it may be wise to request a room on the side of the building where it is located. We had daily cleaning service and they always left extra laundry soup, dishwasher tabs and plenty of towels. My kids loved the pool and the slide. They were open when posted and the line was never too long. We never struggled to find a place to sit or play while at the pool. We did venture over to the Beach Club area and the beachside pool. It was quiet and private but not necessarily geared towards kids so we didn’t stay long. Had we been traveling without kids I imagine we would have spent a lot of time at that pool. It requires a special key to get in, available from the towel desk, and is a quick walk across the street. We bought hot lunches from the convenience store a few times and the food was delicious. The pool bar drinks were great and we really loved happy hour. There wasn’t a water fill station or cups in the Fitness Center but they did have a sign that water was available at the towel stand. The most notable memory from our trip was the tsunami warning that happened while we were there. The communication we received from Hilton was top notch. They sent text messages and answered our questions over the phone and in person. What could have easily ruined our trip is now just a fun story because of how well it was handled by Hilton and Maui officials. We were initially a little hesitant to book this resort based on some of the reviews we read here but we didn’t experience any of the problems others seem to have encountered.

Breath-taking property! Had a whole condo to ourselves, two beds and two full baths. Be careful, they try to sell you a timeshare and you have to attend a meeting that is half a day

We stayed her in July'25 for a family vacation to Maui. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite. We stayed on the 2nd floor in building 4. Location - easy to access location right in Kihea. It's not too centrally located to all the Kihea activities but just 15 minutes car ride away. It's about 25 minutes from the airport and 45 minutes to Kaanapali. The one down size is that you do need to cross the street to get to the beach. And it's just a very small sand beach with not much to see in the ocean. We did encounter a turtle swimming by while swimming out in the ocean. Room - the room was quite nice, full kitchen with electric stove, refrigerator, dish washer, microwave, and oven. There was also a small washer and dryer which was quite convenient. Our room had a queen sofa bed and a room with 2 twin beds. The beds were clean and comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. There was a sizable balcony from the living room that overlooked the pool and had a partial view of the ocean. The bathroom was a good size but just had a shower. Facilities - we primarily used the pools. There are at least 3 pools on the main facility and a smaller adult pool near the ocean. The kids like to play volleyball in the pool. The pools are at most 4 ft so not much swimming. There are 2 hot tubs as well and showers in the pool area. - note one down size is the limited parking close to building 4 because of on going construction. You'll need to park early or around the back size of building 10 - helpful tip - the rooms have usb-a and usb-c plugs built in so you just need to bring your cables. Local places - try to purchase your groceries at Costco on your way in. At the time, we purchase Maui Gold pineapples for $4 from Costco. It cost $8 from the local fruit stand. We just stocked up our fridge so breakfast we taken care of. Timeshare presentation - yes, we went to one of the timeshare presentations to get a discount on some activities (snorkeling , etc). It turned out to be a 1.5 hrs presentation for both parents. They require it be done at least 8 hrs before your depart so plan accordingly. The lady that presented was nice. I have to say, she was quite good at trying to sell us that timeshare. In the end, we didn't buy. Once we said we weren't buying, a 2nd lady came in to offer a consolation sales. Buy 7 nights that can be used in the next 18 months. Good luck.

The room itself was excellent. Also, at check-in the attendant (Sharla) went out of her way to help us since I apparently did not actually confirm our booking. She completed our booking and actually saved us some money in doing so....
