The Butchers Arms Freehouse

Easy to find. Staff inside the pub were friendly and helpful. Rooms are in small cabins at the back. Clean and comfortable. Small table and chairs provided.

No WiFi, despite the property being listed as having it. (I specifically searched for properties with WiFi as I had some work to do on my laptop.) The lighting is really poor - bulbs very low power and one bulb was missing. Sink very very tiny and particularly difficult to use as it has a shelf just above it. I wasn't given the type of room I had booked (as the cleaner hadn't turned up).

Food was fantastic and staff very friendly and welcoming. Bath towels fantastic size and lovely and soft.

The shower head had a lot of limescale which was dirty. The mattresses was not good quality, very springy. The bedlinen was worn and had bobbling. The window shutters had a couple of shutters missing and some others had been heavily chewed by a dog, leaving them looking shabby and also people could see straight in to the beds. Some little simple fixes would have made the accommodation a lot more appealing.

Stayed in a ecopod with en suite shower and toilet. Bed was comfortable, shower OK. Ideal for a good nights sleep after a long days cycling. The food in the pub was good, especially the home cooked (proper) pie. Welcoming family run establishment.

Area around pod could have been tidier and a little sewage smell when toilet flushed, but these are very minor points.
