Convenient city centre location, clean & functional room, friendly reception staff, easy to check in/out

No plug by the bed

Central location, clean hotel, they were generous with tea/coffee/milk top ups, cafes and supermarket close by.

The shower curtain was a bit too short so the floor got a bit wet

It was convenient and clean

One of the lifts was out-of-order (and the call bell for the one that was working didn't work so you had to use the OOO call to summon it - but you only knew this if you'd seen a sign on another floor, there was nothing on the ground floor -NB Reception was on the next floor up). While a couple of the Reception staff were nice, one woman was absolutely unhelpful and rude. While waiting for a replacement kettle because mine wasn't working I witnessed her telling a couple that they didn't have a room because of overbooking and she was AWFUL to them. It was a Bank Holiday weekend - I helped them find accommodation in Morecambe, the closest we could get. I heard someone at the Castle the next day saying they'd slept in their car because their hotel had been overbooked. Guess where they were staying! By the way, I'd bought my kettle down for a swap because another staff member had told me to. She told me there was nothing she could do and sent me away.

Location was great. Staff very friendly.

Unfortunately the weather was freakishly hot and there was no air conditioning and the room was facing the sun. There was a fan in the room but even with that it was uncomfortably hot in the room and very noisy from street traffic with the window open. If not for that it would have been a good stay.
