Hotel Nafarrola Gastronomy & Wine

Excellent hôtel with simple but luxurious decor. Fabulous staff who were happy to help with anything we needed. Breakfast was excellent much more than the usual buffet style approach. The restaurant for evening meal was not far off one Michelin star level.

Lovely hotel in beautiful countryside and fabulous views to the coast. Very comfortable room with every facility. Food wonderful and great local wines with attentive hosts. Location tucked away for privacy but very close to Bilbao and coast.

Just got back from a tour of the Basque country and one of the highlights was our, far-too-short stay at the Hotel Nafarrola, a beautful boutique hotel perched above the tiny fishing village of Bermeo. Our trip started with a free room upgrade, always a nice touch and boy were we happy with our new room. It was large, full of light and had the most comfortable king-sized bed ever. It had an open concept bathroom with separate shower and hot tub, as well as a large terrace that overlooked the hotel's vineyards. It was such a well-appointed and comfortable room that we had a hard time leaving it to explore the beautiful countryside of Biskaia. Explore we did with the help of Josu, one of the owners, who created an itinerary to help us experience the surrounding coastline and countryside. We visited Gernika, Mundaka, Bermeo and Zumaia. We missed the area's most famous site, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, but left confident that we would be back to see it on our next trip; where we expect to stay yet again at the Nafarrola. Perfect from start to finish. The owner cares passionately and he went above and beyond to make our stay idyllic. A very relaxing place and would love to return. Food quality was also excellent. Very comfortable rooms and full of nice touches.

Astounding views in luxurious rooms with in room jacuzzis. Restaurant a bit precious / pretentious and could offer more vegetarian friendly offerings. Staff very helpful and eager to please.

Beautifully designed hotel with lovely views of the countryside. Excellent restaurant with extensive wine list. We had a good sized room with very comfortable bed, balcony, and facilities. Only slight issue was that due to sloping roof part of our room difficult to use. Very helpful and friendly staff.

We had a wonderful stay at Nafarrola. It is the perfect sanctuary from which to explore the magnificent Bermeo region and north coast of Basque Country. It was impeccably clean, the decor is beautiful, and the view of the coast is so lovely. Nicest of all is the service. The small staff handles everything with so much care and give thoughtful recommendations and assistance. We made an error with our booking and they fixed it for us at no extra cost. This is not a hotel for travellers who want rapid and perfunctory service; it is a place to slow down and enjoy being in a magnificent part of the world where people take the time to assist you and the other guests at a personalized rhythm. We hope to be back soon and our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. Eskerrik asko!

This is a beautiful b&b pretty much in the middle of nowhere, which is great if you want to get away and eat great food and maybe take a hike or a bike ride (they rent bikes). The service is great!!! Smiles and great attitudes all around. We enjoyed our time there. Make sure when you book that you follow the instructions they send you so you can get there safely and not get lost. It is in the middle of nowhere =)

Super luxurious place with big rooms, amazing surroundings and top notch restaurants and service. Breakfast was more than amazing.
