The staff was very, very friendly and accommodating. The hotel is a bit out of the way, which is ideal for relaxing, but if you want to take a quick trip into town, it takes about an hour and a half to walk back. The room’s amenities are simply luxurious, and the view is breathtaking. If you get up early in the morning and take your time, you can watch a beautiful sunrise over the entire Beppu Bay—and the sulfur onsen bathtub, of course, invites you to relax.  Breakfast was excellent (pancakes 😍🤤), the bar staff were very friendly, and the drinks were great. The building itself is quite unique, with lots of art and a secret that makes it worth seeking out. 😊 I’d love to come back.

I love whole artistic concept of the hotel and its galleristic look. You really feel like you are stayin in special place. From point of architekture there is always corner, angle, small part what surprises you. Room was also great looking and very practically organized. View outside from 5th floor was amazing. I love how hotel tries to give you best instructions. Everything is translated into english. Even navigation for AC remote controller. Onsen in the room was heaven. Breakfast have nice selection to order from and very calming vibe. There are only 35 rooms in the Midobaru and that’s why you will never feel to crowded in the morning. Last day we flew quite early to Tokyo and they were so lovely in the Peak restaurant that they prepared for us breakfast package. Twice we ate also in Japanese restaurant. It was really nice meal. Guys at reception were superhelpful and trying to fulfill any wish or demand of ours.

Hard to find something. Its not in real what I didnt like but I would like to point for others who will read this review. Because you are in the town of hot streams with sulfur water, there is particular smell of water. For someone can be disturbing but should be not. Be also aware water works everywhere with its composition and temperature. That’s why u see in the room white dots on the stone in shower or snaps on the floor. But that’s completely natural process of water in whole Beppu. And maybe one thing what was less comfortable. Always running Water in onsen is super hot and you definitely need to cool it down which of course takes some time. One day we stayed whole day in the room and just relaxed. When we got hungry we wanted to order from hotel restaurant take away food which is also possible. But from 5.30 pm only so we needed to wait maybe two hours. But we survived :)

The hotel building itself feels like a piece of art and has a very special atmosphere. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the onsen was excellent with a beautiful view that made the experience very relaxing. The welcome drink was also a very nice touch and made the stay feel extra special.

The lighting in the shower and toilet area was a bit too dark. There was also a slight sulfur smell in the room due to the onsen, which may bother some guests, although it is understandable for a hot spring hotel in Beppu.
