Claymore Hotel

3 Star (just) hotel in need of demolition or renovation. Having said that for the location it was value for money and for an overnight stay adequate.

Hotel was pretty tired and the room was very basic

I’m really unhappy about the price of this hotel compared to the conditions we stayed in. The bathroom had a shower with no attachment to the wall which meant we couldn’t have a stand up shower and there was no privacy screen or shower curtain. Meaning we had to shower whilst sat in the bath. The staff came into our room despite there being a notice saying they wouldn’t do this - meaning I left valuables in the room trusting nobody would enter. We also had phone calls to suggest our smoke alarm was being triggered which woke us up. We complained about the shower and nobody came to assess it. We also asked for an iron, none available. The car park was full of pot holes and poorly sign posted for coach parking which caused an issue when we had to park in the only available space (later discovered was for coaches and we were ‘told off’ for that). All in all we felt like an inconvenience and the room was dirty, the bathroom was in extremely poor condition and we didn’t have basic facilities such as a standup shower or privacy. Extremely unhappy with this hotel and the staff who were so unwilling to make us feel more comfortable after check-in

Overall stay was pleasant. Room was clean and comfortable with a beautiful view from the window. However, breakfast wasn’t included in our booking and the room didn’t supply an iron, which I assumed for £100 per night these would be included. We also were kept awake by 2 dogs in the room next door barking. We had our own dog looked after for our break as it stated on the website that dogs were not permitted. These didn’t appear to be service dogs, so I’m unsure as to why they were there. But that aside, a nice stay.

On arrival it looks as advertised, downstairs are well looked after but the hallways & rooms are very dated & dirty. We had no Wi-Fi service & no water running in our room, we lasted 6 hours returned the key & left. Don’t waste your money.

Room very tired!!

Older hotel which was added onto years ago. The main hotel is quite nice, however the addition area could really use some updating and maintenance. The meals were adequate in quantity and quality. The staff service was very good. Wi-fi is only available in the main reception and bar area, not in the rooms.

Windows thick with black mould, cob webs on the walls, Toilet seat filthy, air vent clogged with dust, shower filthy, damp ceiling above shower with black mould….I could go on describing the room for a while yet …but am sure you get the picture…i have several pics of the disgusting room if anyone from the hotel would care to look and comment…now for the corridor …hole in ceiling above stairs …looks like water has burst through. …,just been left…wallpaper ripped in various places…damage to corridor walls and again I have various pics if hotel owners management care to see and comment on…only stayed one night …left with out breakfast…after seeing state of room…I didn’t feel like risking breakfast …very disappointed and an embarrassment to Scotland….avoid at all costs!!!
