Going through a tunnel to find a restaurant

We inadvertently booked two rooms through Booking.com, but at check-in the hotel assured us only one would be charged and that the second room had been cancelled. We were not given access to the second room and were told to follow up with Booking.com, who confirmed they were waiting on the hotel. Despite this, we were later charged for the second room. Disappointing experience—we relied on the hotel’s assurances and ended up paying for a room we neither used nor had access to. Phone messages and an email to a manager went unanswered, and so we were never refunded. Additionally, regarding the breakfast, the hash browns were still cold - only slightly warmer than frozen from the bag. We had stayed at the same hotel a week earlier. On that visit, the toaster was malfunctioning for a guest and set off the smoke detectors and woke the entire hotel up at 6:30 am. Later that morning when we arrived for breakfast, the same thing was happening again: the toaster was smoking and set off the alarms. The fire department came a second time. The only positive was a young man at the front desk—he was friendly and empathetic, despite having no authority to resolve the issues.

I requested early check in, got a notice that it was granted, arrived and was told no rooms were ready. Read the confirmation email, got the room after this discussion. When we turned on the cooling unit bugs came crawling out of it and it had a disruptive whining to the machine so could not sleep with it on and woke up being too hot with it off. Not a great sleep. I mentioned the unit to front desk to get it serviced.

Breakfast was good, location was close to Hospital so good.

If we were on the north end of the building we wouldn't have had all the highway noise { transport trucks used engine breaks on the hill all night.
